Setting up WLAN access
• Requirement: A WLAN must be available and you must have the
corresponding access information.
Information on configuring the WLAN access can be found in the
documentation for your operating syste m.
Access via UMTS
If you ordered an integrated UMTS module with your system, you can enjoy optimum
reception and maximum energy efficiency without awkwa rd cables or antennas. The
optional UMTS module is ready for use straight away.
If you did not order a UMTS module, you can purchase the accessories for UMTS reception
from your retailer or you r Fujitsu Technology Solutions dealer.
You will find information on e stab lish ing the connection with the UMTS network
in the documentation for the hardware used.
You can connect y our device with the Internet via UMTS. To do this, use one
of the follow ing types of con nect ion:
• a USB dongle (a USB stick with your mobile phone provider ’s SIM card)
• UMTS ExpressCard (for inserting in th e ExpressCard slot of your device)
• mobile end-device (e.g. m o b ile phone with Bluetooth or cable connection)
Ethernet and LAN
EthernetLAN
The internal network module of your notebook supports Ethernet LAN. Yo u can use it to
establish a c onnection to a local network (LAN = Local Area Network).

► Connect the network cab le to the LAN
port of the no tebook (1).
► Connect the network cable to your
network connection (2).
Your network administrator can help you to configure and use the LAN connections.
The network ca ble is not included in the delivery scope. This type o f
cable can be obtained from a specialist dealer.
