Your notebook has several security features that you can use to secure your
system from unauthorized access.
This chapter explains how to use e ach function, and what the benets are.
Please remember tha t in some case s, for example, forgetting your password,
you may be locked out and unable to access your data. Therefore,
please note the f ollowing information:
Make regular backups to external op tical disks such as external hard
drives, C Ds, DVDs or Blu-ray Discs.
Some security functio
ns need you to choose passwords. Make a note
of the passwords and ke
ep them in a safe place .
If you forget your passwords you will need to contact our Service Desk.
Deletion or reset ting o f passwords is not covered by your warrant y and
a charg e will be mad e for assistance.

The passwords consist of a
maximum of eight alphanumeric
characters.
Specify at least one supervisor
HDD password in the BIOS
Setup and a ctivate the password
protection for the operating
system and hard disk as
desired.
Boot from removable media
Prevents unauthorized boo ting
of an operating system from
external media (e.g. USB stick,
USB CD-ROM drive etc.).
In the B IO S Setup, g o to the
Securit y menu and e dit the
option Boot from Remov able
Media.
Owner Information Overlay service desk or owner
