Connecting an external monitor
An analog screen is connected to th e analog Video Graphics Array (VGA) monitor port, a digital
screen to the display port, or to the Digital Visual Interface - digital only (DVI-D) m onitor port on the
optional port replicator or dock. The screen outp ut is limited to a maximum of two s creens at the
same time (see "
Hot keys", Page 34, the section on "Switching the setting for the screen output").

► Switch off the notebook and the external monitor.
► Plug the data cable of the external monitor into the monitor port.
► First s witch on the external monitor and then the notebook.
You can also switch back and forth between the extern al monitor and the LCD
screen of the notebook, see chapter "
Hot keys", Page 34.
You can display the same p icture on the external monitor and the
notebook LCD screen simultaneously.
If you wish to operate the screen via a D VI port, use the port replicator
which is available as an option for your notebook.
