Switching on the PC
Ê Switch the monitor on (see the Operating Manual for the monitor).
Ê Switch the PC on with the power switch on the back panel.
Ê If the power-on indicator is illuminated orange or flashes green/orange, press the ON/OFF
switch on the front panel.
The power-on indicator turns green and the PC will start.

If you have assigned a system password, you must enter this when requested to do so, in
order to start the operating system.
Switching off the PC
Ê Shut down the operating system properly, for example, when using Windows Shut Down via the
Start menu.
Ê If the operating system does not automatically switch the PC off, switch the PC to ready-to-
operate by pressing the ON/OFF switch or turn it off by pressing the power switch when
requested to do so.
If the PC is ready-to-operate, the power-on indicator is illuminated orange. The PC uses a minimum
of electricity.
When the PC is switched off with the power switch the power-on indicator goes off after approx.
15 seconds. The PC no longer uses any power.

The power switch and the ON/OFF switch do not disconnect the PC from the electricity
supply. To disconnect the electricity supply completely, remove the power plug from the
socket.

Soft-off (for systems which have this facility)
Prerequisite: Your system must support switching off with software and this functionality must be
enabled in BIOS Setup (Soft Power OFF - Enabled). In addition, the soft off software must be installed
on Windows NT systems.
You can switch your PC to ready-to-operate under Windows via the Shutdown the Computer menu or
by using the DeskOff programme.
