This unit can remotely control the MF/HF radiotelephone. The main CPU on the CONTROL/MODEM
board detects HOOK ON/OFF and PTT ON/OFF signal from the handset, and controls MF/HF radio-
telephone. The control signal between the DSC and the MF/HF radiotelephone is T/R data of MIF or
IEC format, TX KEY, RX MUTE, or STAND-BY signal.
When the ACK RQ (Acknowledge Request) message is received with the AUTO ACK function of the
DSC turned ON, the MF/HF radiotelephone is automatically controlled to send the ACK BQ (Acknowl-
edge Back) signal.

The INST signal is used to detect whether the RX board (DSC general frequency receiver PCB) is
present or not.
If the board is present, scan receiving of DSC is controlled. If not present, scan receiving of DSC of the
MF/HF Radiotelephone is controlled.

The AF line is normally selected to SSB (RT) by switching the AF line. It is on DSC side only when
sending DSC message, or outputting the ALERT/ALARM alarm.

When the PTT is turned ON, RX MUTE and TX KEY are turned ON. If they are already ON, ON
state is held. When the PTT is turned OFF, RX MUTE and TX KEY are turned OFF. If they are
already OFF, OFF state is held.
