SUPERLOCK QUICK EXIT

Now in stainless steel, the BQ locks have a quick exit push pad designed to

facilitate rapid exit through gates.

Stainless steel adjustable latchbolt which springs 15mm (5/8") into the gate

post. Precise ﬁtting on site.

Supplied with bolt guide plate and gate post strike plate.

A security shroud is available to prevent access to the push pad from the

outside.

INSTALLATION

1. Drill 2 x 9mm (3/8") holes at 140mm (5 ½") centres for ﬁxing bolts provided.

2. Drill a 18mm (¾") clearance hole for the latchbolt at 60mm (2 3/8") centres up from

the bottom ﬁxing hole.

3. Hold the lock against the back of the box section and screw on the latchbolt

through the larger hole.

4. Lock the latchbolt with the hex key supplied by inserting the hex key into the end

of the latchbolt.

5. Fix lock in place using the stainless steel bolt support plate and the countersunk

screws provided. Ensure the latchbolt moves freely.

6. Fix strike plate by either welding or screw ﬁxing onto the gate post

7. MAINTENANCE Every 6 months, lubricate the latchbolt with light oil. Annually,

dismantle the lock and spray mechanism with light oil.

The Superlock Quick Exit BQ is a robust gate lock designed for secure and rapid exit, now available in stainless steel. It features a quick exit push pad, making it ideal for applications where swift egress is essential.

Function Description:

The Superlock Quick Exit BQ is a gate lock system that provides secure access control with a quick exit mechanism. It is available in several configurations:

Key Access on One Side, Push Pad on the Other (BQK Series): This configuration allows entry via a key from one side and provides a push pad for quick exit from the other.
Digital Keypad Access on One Side, Push Pad on the Other (BQDG Series): This version offers digital keypad entry from one side and a push pad for quick exit from the other. This allows for code-based access control without the need for physical keys.
No Access from Outside, Push Pad on Inside (BQNA Series): This configuration is designed for situations where no external access is desired, providing only a push pad for exit from the inside.

The lock incorporates a stainless steel adjustable latchbolt that springs 15mm (5/8") into the gate post, ensuring a secure closure and precise fitting on site. It is supplied with a bolt guide plate and a gate post strike plate for comprehensive installation. A security shroud is available as an optional accessory to prevent unauthorized access to the push pad from the outside, enhancing security.

Important Technical Specifications:

The Superlock Quick Exit BQ is designed for various gate frame thicknesses, categorized into two main ranges:

10 - 30mm (1/2" - 1 1/4") gate frames: This range is suitable for thinner gate constructions.
40 - 60mm (1 1/2" - 2 1/4") gate frames: This range accommodates thicker, more robust gate frames.

The latchbolt has a spring projection of 15mm (5/8"). Installation requires drilling:

Two 9mm (3/8") holes at 140mm (5 1/2") centers for fixing bolts.
One 18mm (3/4") clearance hole for the latchbolt at 60mm (2 3/8") centers up from the bottom fixing hole.
For digital locks, an 18mm (3/4") clearance hole for the latchbolt at 60mm (2 3/8") centers up from the bottom fixing hole, and two 9mm (3/8") holes at 140mm (5 1/2") centers for fixing bolts. Additionally, a 52mm (2") hole is required for the spindle, centered 100mm (4") from the top fixing hole.

Usage Features:

Quick Exit Push Pad: Facilitates rapid and easy exit, crucial for safety and convenience.
Adjustable Latchbolt: Allows for precise fitting on site, accommodating minor variations in gate and post alignment.
Handing Options: Available in both Left Hand (L) and Right Hand (R) configurations to suit different gate opening directions.
Digital Keypad (BQDG Series): Offers code-based access, eliminating the need for keys and allowing for easy code changes. The code must always start with a 'C'.
Security Shroud (Optional): Provides an additional layer of security by preventing external access to the push pad.

Installation Steps:

Drill two 9mm (3/8") holes at 140mm (5 1/2") centers for the provided fixing bolts.
Drill an 18mm (3/4") clearance hole for the latchbolt at 60mm (2 3/8") centers up from the bottom fixing hole.
Hold the lock against the back of the box section and screw on the latchbolt through the larger hole.
Lock the latchbolt with the supplied hex key by inserting it into the end of the latchbolt.
Fix the lock in place using the stainless steel bolt support plate and the provided countersunk screws. Ensure the latchbolt moves freely.
Fix the strike plate by either welding or screw fixing onto the gate post.

Digital Code Change Procedure (BQDG Series):

Verify the current code is working on the keypad.
Remove the keypad from the lock by sliding the keypad and lock insides out of the case spine and unscrewing the two screws fixing the keypad to the panel.
Turn the keypad over and remove the four screws.
Carefully lift off the covering panel, noting the 10 attached springs. Red tumblers relate to the code; the uncoloured 'C' tumbler should not be removed.
To change the code, hold the keypad with the code buttons down and depress & hold the 'C' button (failure to do so may damage internal components). Reposition the tumblers for the new code (red tumblers are coded, blue tumblers are uncoded). Ensure the square cut-out on each tumbler faces the outside of the lock body and the coloured mark faces upwards. Incorrect tumbler orientation will prevent the lock from working and may cause damage if forced. The code must always start with a 'C'.
Replace the covering panel and tighten the two screws.
Confirm the new code works correctly and make a note for future reference. Once satisfied, refit keypads to the panel using the two screws and reassemble the lock.

Maintenance Features:

Regular Lubrication (Every 6 months): Lubricate the latchbolt with light oil.
Annual Dismantling and Lubrication: Annually, dismantle the lock and spray the mechanism with light oil.
Digital Lock Maintenance (3 monthly):
1. Remove keypads from the lock.
2. Thoroughly spray the inside of the lock with WD40 or equivalent through the tumbler holes at the back.
3. Spray all fixing accessories and the latch with WD40 or equivalent.
4. Push each button and rotate the knob several times to ensure smooth operation.
