Because of
potentialsafety
hazards under
certain
conditions,
we strongly
recommend
against the use
of an adapter
plug. However,
if you still elect
to use an
TEMPORARYMETHOD
adapter, where local codes permit, a TEMPORARY
CONNECTION may be made to a properly grounded
two-prong wa]]receptacle by the use of a UL listed
adapter (Fig. 2) which is available at most local
hardware stores.
The larger slot in the adaptermust be aligned with the
lager s]ot ill [he wall
receptacleto provide proper
polarity in [heconnection of the power cord.
Caution:Attachingthe adaptergroundterminal to
the wall receptaclecover screw cloesnotground the
applianceunlessthe cover screw is metal, and not
insulated, and the wall receptacle is groundedthrough
thehouse wiring. Youshouldhave thecircuit checked
by a qualifiedelectrician to make surethereceptacle
is properly grounded.
When disconnectingthepower cord from the adapter,
alwayshold the adapterwith one ha~t. If this is not
done, the adapter ground terminal is verylikely to
break with repeated use. Shouldthis happen,DO
NOT USE the appliance until a proper ground has ,
againbeen established.

Do not use an adapter p~ugin these situations
because frequent disconnectionof the power cord
places undue strain on the adapter and leads to
eventualfailure of the adapter ground terminal. You
shouldhave the two-prong wall receptacle replaced
with a three-prong (grounding)receptacle by a
qualified electrician before using the appliance.
