The Problem solver (continued)
PROBLEM
POSSIBLE CAUSE AND REMEDY
OPERATING SOUNDS
● The high speed compressor motor required to maintain near zero temperatures in the
large freezer compartment may produce higher sound levels than your old refrigerator.
● Nornml fkn air flow-one fan blows cold air through the refrigerator and freezer
compartments, another fan cools the compressor motor.
s These NORMAL sounds will also be heard from time to time:
● Defrost timer switch clicks at defrost.
● Defbst water dripping into drain pan.
. -—..
● Temperature cmtrd ~IicksON or OFF.
● Reikigerant bomg or gurgling.
● Cracking or popping of cooling coils caused by expansion and contraction during
defrost and refrigeration following defrost.
● 13Mhautomatic icemaker, the sound of cubes dropping into the bin and water
running in pipes as icernaker refills.
FRESH FOOD
● Temperatum control not set cold enough. Refer to TEMPERATURE CONTROLS
OR FREEZER on page 8. ‘
COMPARTMENT
TEMPERATURE
● W-weather-frequent door openings.
TOO WARM
● Door left open for too long time.
● Package maybe holding door open.
FOODS DRY OUT
● Foods not covered, wrapxd or sealed properly.
FROST OR ICE
. ~wr maYhave been left ajar or package holding door open.
CRYSTALS ON
FROZEN FOOD
● Tw frequent and too long door openings.
c Frost within package is normal.
SLOW ICE CUBE
. D~r may hwe been left ajar.
FREEZING
. h ~mwmwm of freezer compartment colder.
ICE CUBES HAYE
* Old cubes need to be discarded.
ODOR/TASTE
● Ice storage bin needs to be emptied or washed.
● Unsealed packages in reikigerator and/or freezer compartments may be transmitting
odorkaste to ice cubes.
● Interior of refrigerator needs cleaning-refer to page 13.
● ~or_@t@ in~- wa~r. ~~til a water filter-seepage 14.
