PROBLEM
Engine will
NOT
turn
over.
Engine turns-over but will
NOT
start.
Engine overheating.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
CAUSE
Battery connections loose or corroded.
Battery discharged
or
defective.
Interconnection wires loose.
Ignition switch, regulator, solenoid
and / or starting
motor
defective.
No
fuel in
Tank
.
Battery is weak.
Fuel
is
NOT
reaching Carburetor.
Pump
Idler engaged.
Crankcase oil supply
is
too
low
or
overfilled.
Engine
is
overloaded.
Engine cooling fins are dirty.
Air circulation
is
restricted.
Exhaust System
is
restricted.
Dirty
or
improper grade oil.
Incorrect engine timing adjusted.
Shrouding
on
engine
is
removed.
REMEDY
Clean Terminals
or
Cables and tighten
them securely.
Recharge
or
replace Battery.
Troubleshoot and inspect all wiring.
Refer to Engine manual or check with
dealer for additional assistance.
Refuel.
Use
Jumper
Cables
or
recharge Battery.
Inspect Fuel line for blockage and
remove.
Disengage Idler to lessen the load
on
the engine.
Add
or
drain oil as necessary.
Increase engine
RPM
with Throttle.
Backflush fins with compressed air.
RemoV.e dust, dirt
or
blockage.
Remove restriction.
Drain
and
replace with correct grade
of
oil.
Readjust timing per Engine Manual.
Replace Shrouding.
