WARNING: Never operate the sander without an abrasive disc
installed, doing so will damage the pad and affect its ability to firmly hold
abrasive discs during use and possibly causing personal injury.
Dust Collect Bag
WARNING: Never operate this tool without the dust collection bag
installed when using perforated abrasive paper.
Thedustcollectionbagislocatedintherearofyoursander.Asmentionedintheprevioussection,
sandingdustisdrawnupintotheholespunchedintheabrasivepaper,thenthroughthematching
holesinthesandingpadandintothedustbagwhereit’scollectedduringsandingoperations.Asthe
dustcollectionbagllsbeyondhalffullthedustcollectionsystembecomeslessefcient.Therefore,for
moreefcientperformance,emptythedustbagwhenitbecomeshalffull.
To Empty the Dust Collection Bag
•Unplugthesanderfromthepowersource.
•Removethedustbagfromitsrearmountbygrippingthesanderwithonehandandthedustbag
withyourotherhand.Thenpullthedustbagstraightback.
•Toemptythebagyousimplyturnitonendwithroundmountingtubeatthefrontofthebagpointing
downwardandshakethecontentfromthebagintoacontainer.
To Reinstall the Dust Collection Bag:
•Unplugthesanderfromthepowersource.
•Insertthemountingtubeintothedustexhaustportattherearofthesanderuntilitisrmlysetin
place.
Sanding Operation
Yoursandersmoothstheworkpiecesurfacebythepadmovingintinycirclesathighspeed.Thistype
ofsandingactioncalled"orbitalmotion",givingyoursanderaveryfastcuttingactionforquickremoval
oflargeamountsofstock,especiallywiththecoarsergritabrasivepapers.Onmostsandingjobs,
orbitalmotiongivesyoutheabilitytosandinanydirectionirrespectiveofthewood’sgrain.However,to
attainabetternish,itisbesttosand"with"thegrain.
Thissanderisdesignedtobeheldeitheraroundthemainhousingorapalmgripontopofthehousing.
Duringlongperiodsofsandingyoumayndithelpfultorelievehandfatiguebyperiodicallyalternating
yourgripbetweenthetwoholdingstyles.
NOTE:When holding the sander in the palm grip style, try positioning your
hand and fingers to minimize covering the upper motor cooling vents.
To Use the Sander
•Clamporotherwisesecuretheworkpiecetopreventitfrommovingwhileyou’resanding.
•Holdthetoolinfrontandawayfromyouandclearoftheworkpiece.Startthesanderby pressingthe
switchtothe"I"(ON)positionandletitcomeuptofullspeed.
•Slowlyloweryoursanderontotheworkpiece,themovethesanderinslowforward&backward
strokes.Donotforceorpushthetooldownontheworkpiece,theweightofthetoolissufcient
pressure,allowingthemotorandabrasivepapertooperateattheirmostefcientspeed.Excessive
pressurecausesthemotortoslowdown,preventingtheabrasivefromcuttingeffectivelyand
causestheabrasivetoprematurelywearout.Whenthemotorisslowedbyexcessivepressurethe
