Overview

This document is an owner's manual for a Glen Burton GA204BCO-BK / GA204BCO-NT acoustic guitar, an amplifier (GM-10), and a tuner.

Function Description

The Glen Burton GA204 acoustic guitar is a musical instrument designed for playing acoustic music. It can be amplified using the GM-10 amplifier, which boosts the guitar's sound. The included tuner helps ensure the guitar is accurately tuned.

Important Technical Specifications

GA204 Acoustic Guitar: The guitar itself is a standard acoustic guitar with a cutaway body design, a dark finish (available in BK for black or NT for natural, though the image shows a dark, possibly black, finish), and six strings. It features an integrated EQ system (SV-540) for sound control when amplified.

GM-10 Amplifier:

  • Output Power: 10 watts (MAX)
  • Treble Control: 24db@10KHZ
  • Bass Control: 12db@100HZ
  • Input Sensitivity@1KHZ: 6mv
  • Input Impedance: 470K ohms
  • Speaker: 6.5" 8ohms
  • Power Consumption: 19watts The amplifier includes controls for Volume, Treble, and Bass, along with a 1/4" input jack for the instrument, a 1/4" headphone jack, and a power indicator light. It operates on 110V 60HZ AC power.

Tuner: The tuner is a clip-on electronic device with a display screen. It supports tuning for Guitar (G), Bass (B), Violin (V), Ukulele (U), and Chromatic (C) modes. It uses a CR2032 button battery.

Usage Features

GA204 Acoustic Guitar:

  • Tuning: Standard guitar tuning is A-440. The manual recommends tuning the 1st string (smallest diameter) first, then the two outside strings, and then tuning towards the center to equalize pressure on the bridge. Standard tuning is E-A-D-G-B-E (6th to 1st string).
  • Action Adjustment: The action (string height) is factory-set for optimum playability. Measurements are taken in 64ths of an inch from the 12th fret to the underside of the string. Standard action at the 12th fret is 5/64" on the treble side and 7/64" on the bass side. At the first fret, treble strings are set to 1/64" and bass strings progress up to 2/64". Truss rod adjustment is necessary for proper action setting.
  • Truss Rod Adjustment: The truss rod, located in the soundhole, can be adjusted using an Allen wrench or adjustment wrench to compensate for string tension, humidity, or climate changes affecting the neck. This adjustment should be performed periodically by qualified repair personnel.
  • Restringing: Proper string installation is crucial. At the bridge, ensure the string's notch faces the headstock. At the headstock, thread string (A) through the hole/slot at (B) to (C), around the upper side of the post (D), and under string (A) at (B), then back around post (D). This method locks the string against the post when wound.
  • EQ Control (SV-540): The guitar features an onboard EQ system to convert guitar sound into signals for an amplifier. It requires a 9V battery. Controls include:
    1. Volume Control
    2. Low power indicator
    3. Tone Controls (Boost/Bass/Midd/Treb/Pres)
    4. Battery holder (for 9V battery)
    5. Connecting jack (for amplifier cable) The battery should be removed if the EQ is not used for a long time.

GM-10 Amplifier:

  • Controls:
    1. Gain Jack: 1/4" input for the instrument.
    2. Volume: Adjusts overall amplifier level.
    3. Treble: Controls boost/cut of upper frequencies for brighter sound.
    4. Bass: Controls boost/cut of low frequency range.
    5. Headphone Jack: 1/4" stereo jack for headphones; disconnects the speaker when in use.
    6. Power indicator light: Illuminates when power is on.
    7. ON/OFF Switch: Turns AC power on/off.
    8. The handle: For carrying.
    9. Power plug: For connecting to power.
  • Operating Procedure: Ensure the amplifier switch is OFF, plug into a 110V 60HZ AC socket, turn on the switch (power indicator lights up), plug in the guitar cable, and adjust volume and timbre.
  • Safety Notes: Confirm power supply is 110V 60HZ AC. Avoid damp environments to prevent electrical leakage. Place the amplifier on a stable surface.

Tuner:

  • Operation:
    • Install a CR2032 button battery.
    • Press and hold the ON/OFF button (3) to turn on/off.
    • Press the button to cycle through tuning modes: G(Guitar), B(Bass), V(Violin), U(Ukulele), C(Chromatic).
    • Clip the tuner onto the musical instrument (e.g., headstock) and adjust its position for clear LCD display.
    • The string number and note name will be displayed during tuning.
  • Indicators:
    • Low: Indicator on the left, LCD screen in white.
    • High: Indicator on the right, LCD screen in white.
    • In-tune: Indicator in the middle, LCD screen in green.

Maintenance Features

General Instrument Care:

  • Always store or transport the instrument in a case or gig bag to prevent damage from nicks, jams, or sudden climate/atmosphere changes.
  • Never place the instrument in a car trunk or put anything on top of it.
  • Wipe down the guitar with a clean, soft cloth after playing or before storing to protect the finish from perspiration.
  • Polishing with high-gloss guitar polish will prolong the life of the finish.

Truss Rod Adjustment:

  • Truss rod adjustments should be performed periodically.
  • Only qualified repair personnel should perform truss rod adjustments. Over-adjustment can damage the instrument and void the warranty.
