Function Description
The Global Lift Corp. Performance Series Pool Lift is designed to provide accessible entry and exit from swimming pools for individuals with mobility impairments. It operates using a 24-volt battery system and controls, allowing for smooth and controlled movement of the seat. The lift is intended for commercial pool access, ensuring compliance with ADA guidelines for pool lift placement.
Important Technical Specifications
ADA Guidelines for Pool Lift Placement:
- Pool Lift Location: The lift must be located where the water level does not exceed 48 inches (1220 mm).
- Seat Location: In the raised position, the centerline of the seat must be located over the deck and at least 16 inches (405 mm) from the edge of the pool. The deck surface between the centerline of the seat and the pool edge must have a slope not steeper than 1:48.
- Clear Deck Space: A clear deck space must be provided on the side of the seat opposite the water, parallel with the seat. This space must be at least 36 inches (915 mm) wide and extend forward at least 48 inches (1220 mm) from a line located 12 inches (305 mm) behind the rear edge of the seat. The clear deck space must also have a slope not steeper than 1:48.
- Submerged Depth: The lift is designed so that the seat will submerge to a water depth of at least 18 inches (455 mm) below the stationary water level. For proper clearance, the lift should be installed at a location with 48 inches of water depth.
Battery System:
- Voltage: 24-volt battery system.
- Recharging: The battery is rechargeable. It should be charged for 5-8 hours prior to its first use.
- Controls: The unit is operated by a 2-button easy-to-use control. The red knob on top of the unit clockwise ensures it is in the up(On) position. Once unlocked, the arrow pointing down will lower the lift when depressed; the arrow pointing up will raise the unit when depressed. If the low battery indicator tone "Do Not Use the Lift" is heard, the battery needs to be removed and recharged.
Anchoring Methods:
The lift offers two primary anchoring methods:
- New Construction & Saw Cut Sleeve Anchoring Method:
- Anchor Sleeve: 1 anchor sleeve with base.
- Binding Screw: 1 binding screw.
- Plastic Cap: 1 plastic cap.
- Placement: The front of the anchor sleeve must be 12 to 17 inches from the water's edge. Optimal placement is 14 inches.
- Bonding: Connect copper wire to the binding screw and then to your bonding grid.
- Cold Pin: Cold Pin should be ½ inch rebar 6 to 8 inches long.
- Concrete: The concrete must be 6 inches deep with a ½ inch reinforcing rod, minimum of an 18-inch grid. Pour 4,000 psi concrete with reinforcing rod.
- Curing Time: Allow concrete to set for 48 hours before installation.
- Retro-Fit Sleeve Anchoring Method:
- Anchor Sleeve: 1 anchor sleeve with base.
- Binding Screw: 1 binding screw.
- Plastic Cap: 1 plastic cap.
- Placement: From the water's edge to the front end of the anchor sleeve must be 12 to 17 inches.
- Drilling: Requires a 5-inch diameter core drilling bit. The hole must be 6 inches deep and flat on the bottom.
- Cementing: Use 10 lbs of Quick dry Anchoring Cement (Commercial Grade Quikrete Exterior Use Anchoring Cement) to complete the installation.
- Curing Time: Allow concrete to set for 24 hours.
- Fixed Anchor (Optional): After installation, a 3/8 inch bolt can be secured in the pre-drilled hole inside the anchor sleeve.
- Optional Fixed Drop-In Anchor: For S-350 & P-375 Lifts, a pre-drilled hole on the base allows for an optional fixed drop-in anchor. This requires a 7/8 inch rock carbide drilling bit, drilling 2 ½ inches deep, cleaning the hole, administering epoxy, driving the anchor flush, expanding it with a setting tool, and securing with a 3/8 inch bolt.
