Overview

This document provides comprehensive instructions for the Gorenje BM235ORAW and BM235ORAB microwave ovens, designed for household use to heat food and beverages using electromagnetic energy. It emphasizes safety, proper usage, and maintenance to ensure optimal performance and longevity of the appliance.

Function Description

The Gorenje microwave oven offers various cooking and heating functions, including quick start, microwave heating with adjustable power levels, auto defrost, grill, and combination cooking modes. It also features an auto menu for convenient cooking of specific food types and weights, a digital clock, a delay start function, and a child lock for safety.

Usage Features

Quick Start: This function allows for rapid heating at 100% microwave power. In standby mode, pressing the START/RESET button initiates a 60-second cooking cycle. The cooking time can be extended by 30 seconds in most programs by pressing the UP key.

Microwave Heating: The appliance offers two options for microwave heating. The "Quick microwave heating" heats food at 100% power for a set duration. For "Manual-operation microwave heating," users can select from five power levels (100%, 70%, 50%, 30%, 10%) and set a cooking time up to 60 minutes.

Auto Defrost: This feature automatically adjusts defrosting time and power based on the preset weight of the food (100g to 2000g) for meat, poultry, and seafood. Users select the "DEF" option and input the weight.

Grill: The grill function is ideal for thin slices of meat, escalopes, steaks, skewers, sausages, chicken pieces, toasting bread, sandwiches, and finishing dishes au gratin. It offers two options: G-1 (85% grill power) and G-2 (50% grill power), with a maximum cooking time of 60 minutes. During grilling, the oven pauses after the first stage, signaling the user to turn the food over for even cooking.

Combination Cooking: This mode combines microwave and grill functions. Option 1 (C-1) uses 55% microwave and 45% grill power, suitable for cooking fish or dishes au gratin. Option 2 (C-2) uses 30% microwave and 60% grill power, ideal for pudding, soufflés, omelettes, baked potatoes, and poultry.

Auto Menu: For specific food items like rice, vegetables, noodles, meat, fish, chicken, liquid, and popcorn, the auto menu (A-1 to A-8) automatically sets the power and time based on the food type and weight/amount inputted by the user.

Clock/Timer: The oven is equipped with a 24-hour digital clock. Users can set the time by pressing the CLOCK/TIMER button and adjusting the hour and minutes using the UP and DOWN buttons.

Delay Start: This feature allows users to program the microwave oven to start and finish cooking at a pre-set time. The clock must be set before using this function. Users input the desired start time, power level, and cooking duration.

Child Lock: To prevent unintended use, especially by children, the child lock can be activated by pressing the UP and DOWN buttons simultaneously for 2 seconds. The same action unlocks the appliance.

START/RESET Button: This button stops any ongoing operation and cancels any set program if pressed before the start of cooking.

Maintenance Features

Regular cleaning and proper maintenance are crucial for the appliance's performance and safety.

General Cleaning:

  • Always turn off the oven and unplug it from the wall socket before cleaning.
  • Keep the inside of the oven clean. Food splatters or spilled liquids should be wiped with a damp cloth. Harsh detergents or abrasives are not recommended.
  • The outside surface of the oven should be cleaned with a damp cloth. Avoid water seeping into ventilation openings to prevent damage to operating parts.
  • The control panel should be cleaned with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use detergents, abrasives, or spray-on cleaners on the control panel.
  • If steam accumulates on or around the oven door, wipe it with a soft cloth. This is normal in high humidity conditions and does not indicate a malfunction.

Specific Component Cleaning:

  • The glass tray should be removed and washed regularly in warm sudsy water or a dishwasher.
  • The roller ring and oven cavity floor should be cleaned regularly to prevent excessive noise. Wipe the bottom surface with mild detergent, water, or window cleaner and dry. The roller ring can be washed in mild sudsy water or a dishwasher. Ensure the roller ring is replaced in the proper position after cleaning.
  • To remove odors, combine a cup of water with the juice and skin of one lemon in a deep microwaveable bowl, microwave for 5 minutes, then wipe thoroughly and dry with a soft cloth.

Important Maintenance Notes:

  • Do not clean the appliance with steam cleaners, high-pressure cleaners, sharp objects, abrasive cleaning agents, abrasive sponges, or stain removers.
  • Never replace the light bulb inside the oven yourself; it must always be replaced by Gorenje service.
  • Failure to maintain the oven in a clean condition can lead to deterioration of surfaces, affecting the appliance's life and potentially creating hazardous situations.
  • If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent, or similarly qualified persons to avoid hazards.
  • Do not let the cord hang over the edge of the table or worktop.
  • Never connect this appliance to an external timer switch or remote control system to avoid a hazardous situation.

Installation and Safety:

  • Ensure all packing materials are removed from inside the door.
  • Inspect the oven for any visual damage (misaligned door, damaged door, dents/holes in door window/screen, dents in cavity) before use. Do not use the oven if any damage is visible.
  • The microwave oven must be placed on a horizontal surface strong enough to support its weight.
  • Keep the oven away from high temperatures and steam.
  • Do not place anything on top of the oven.
  • Do not remove the turntable drive shaft.
  • Close supervision is necessary when the appliance is used by children.
  • Ensure the AC outlet is easily accessible for quick plug removal in an emergency. If not, the device should be disconnectable via a circuit switch, adhering to electrical safety standards.
  • The product must be correctly installed on an earthed socket with a single-phase AC (230 V/50 Hz). This appliance must be earthed.
  • This oven is protected internally by a 250 V, 10 Amp Fuse.
