30 K2 Storage System Version 3.2.74 Release Notes October 19, 2008
Upgrading software on the K2 ASI Media Client
Step 5: Install ProductFrame support
Before doing this step:
Determine if ProductFrame support is already installed, as follows:
• Open
Add/Remove Programs and look for the following:
• SiteConfig Network Configuration Connect Kit
• Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1
Do not do this step if:
• The Connect Kit and .Net 3.5 are already installed. Skip ahead to “Step 6: Uninstall
K2 appliance software”.
Do this step if:
• The Connect Kit and .Net 3.5 are not both already installed.
To install ProductFrame support, do the following:
1. Insert the version 3.2.74 K2 System Software CD in the K2 ASI Media Client’s CD
drive, if it is not already inserted, or otherwise access the version 3.2.74 installation
files.
2. On the CD in the ConnectivityKit directory find GVG_ConnKit.exe. This is a
self-extracting archive. Extract it to C:\temp.
3. In C:\temp open the ConnectivityKit directory and run setup.exe.
4. Wait while .Net 3.5 installs. This can take several minutes. During this time there
is minimal indication of progress. Do not shutdown or otherwise interfere with the
installation process.
After the .Net installation process completes, a message appears that prompts you
to restart.
5. Restart as prompted.
After startup processes complete, the Connect Kit installation wizard opens
6. Work through the install wizard. Accept all defaults. Respond with
Next and Close.
7. When prompted, you do not need to restart the machine.
It is not necessary to restart at this point. The restart after you uninstall SNFS in a
later step is sufficient.
Step 6: Uninstall K2 appliance software
1. Stop all media access on the K2 ASI Media Client.
2. Use the Windows
Add/Remove Programs control panel and uninstall K2 appliance
software.
3. Restart the K2 ASI Media Client using the Windows operating system restart
procedure.
4. Identify the currently installed version of SNFS software. If you are not sure, check
Start | Programs | StorNext File System | Version Information.
