What to do if my GRE PSR-500 will not scan when SCAN key is pressed?

  If your GRE Receiver isn't scanning when you press the SCAN key, first, try tightening the squelch, applying an attenuator, or locking out any 'birdie' frequencies. Another reason might be that the squelch control isn't properly adjusted, so turn it clockwise until scanning resumes. Ensure that you have more than one channel programmed and enabled for scanning. Finally, the scanner may need to be reset or initialized, so follow the steps to do that.

  If your GRE Receiver has poor reception, try these steps: First, reposition the radio to find the best reception. If you're using the attenuator, check the performance both with and without it activated and use the setting that gives you the best reception. Inspect the antenna and connectors for any issues. Also, make sure that you've selected the correct modulation mode for the system you're monitoring.

  If your GRE Receiver does not receive digital transmissions, it might be because the digital channel or talkgroup isn't using APCO-25 digital modulation; this scanner only supports APCO-25 C4FM/CQPSK IMBE digital signals. Encrypted traffic cannot be received by the scanner. If the transmission is from a distant location, reposition the scanner or use an outdoor antenna to improve reception.
