This document is an assembly and user manual for the Green Land Vegica greenhouse, available in Finnish, English, and Swedish. It provides detailed instructions for setting up the greenhouse, along with technical specifications, warnings, warranty terms, and maintenance guidelines.
Function Description
The Green Land Vegica greenhouse is designed for gardening and growing plants or vegetables. It provides a controlled environment to facilitate plant growth, offering protection from external weather conditions. The manual guides users through the assembly process, from preparing the foundation to installing the frame, polycarbonate panels, vents, and doors.
Important Technical Specifications
The Vegica greenhouse comes in three different sizes, with varying lengths, weights, and areas, while maintaining a consistent width.
- Width: 193 cm
- Lengths: 188.5 cm (3.64 m² model), 249.5 cm (4.82 m² model), 371.5 cm (7.17 m² model)
- Height (with base): 132.4 cm / 199.8 cm (This likely refers to eave height and ridge height, or possibly two different base options, though the document specifies a 10 cm high steel base)
- Weights: 31.3 kg (3.64 m² model), 36.05 kg (4.82 m² model), 47.02 kg (7.17 m² model)
- Frame Color: Black
- Frame Material: Aluminum
- Frame Thickness: 1.0–2.4 mm
- Roof and Wall Panels: 4 mm UV protected polycarbonate
- Base: 10 cm high steel base
- Opened Vents: One (for 3.64 m² and 4.82 m² models), Two (for 7.17 m² model)
- Door: Sliding door
- Warranty: 5 years (for the frame)
The greenhouse is constructed with a robust frame thickness, which is noted as stronger than most competing products on the market. The polycarbonate panels are UV-protected, with the protected side covered by an opal white film that must face outwards (towards the sun).
Usage Features
The manual emphasizes careful preparation and assembly to ensure the greenhouse's stability and longevity.
- Foundation Options: The greenhouse can be installed on grass or ground using the included aluminum base, or on a solid concrete foundation. Two popular methods are detailed:
- Option 1 (Grass/Ground with Steel Base): Involves digging 80 cm deep holes for anchor legs to go below freezing depth, installing 200 mm diameter pipes (not included) for concrete, and pressing the anchor legs into the concrete. The foundation must be perfectly level, and corners must be at a 90-degree angle, verifiable by diagonal measurements. A 5 mm gap between the base and concrete pipes is recommended.
- Option 2 (Concrete Foundation with Steel Base): Requires building a concrete floor larger than the greenhouse's outer dimensions or a foundation only under the walls (minimum 10 cm width, 30 cm height; recommended 30 cm width, 50 cm height). The foundation must be level and dry. Anchor legs need to be shortened to align with the base, and holes must be drilled into the steel base and concrete for suitable screws and anchors. Fixing the base in 14 places (2 screws per corner, 2 per long side, 1 per short side) is recommended.
- Assembly Process: The frame should be assembled section by section, with bolts and fittings provided in a single package. Detailed illustrations are provided for each step, distinguishing between views from inside and outside the greenhouse.
- Polycarbonate Panel Installation: The UV-protected side of the panels, covered with a white film, must face outwards. Approximately 2 inches of film should be removed from the edges before installation, with the remaining film removed after assembly is complete. If H-lists are too stiff for joining panels, hot water can be used to soften them.
- Ventilation: The greenhouse includes one or two vents depending on the size, allowing for air circulation.
- Sliding Door: The greenhouse features a sliding door for access.
Maintenance Features
Regular maintenance is crucial for the greenhouse's condition and warranty validity.
- Snow Load Management: Snow loads should be removed from the roof regularly, especially after heavy snowfall, as loads exceeding 10 cm in thickness can be dangerous due to the weight of wet snow.
- Roof Support: The central part of the roof ridge should be supported by a pillar during winter.
- Location Considerations: The greenhouse should be installed in a location where heavy snow loads from trees or other structures cannot fall onto it.
- Lubrication: All hinges and sliding door tracks should be greased regularly to ensure smooth operation.
- Gutter Cleaning: Gutters should be cleaned regularly to remove leaves and other debris.
- Wind Damage Prevention: Vents and doors should be closed during heavy winds to prevent damage.
- Cleaning: Frame surfaces can be cleaned with mild household detergent (avoid abrasive detergents). Glass surfaces can be cleaned with window cleaning solution. A thorough cleaning is recommended both before and after the growing season.
Warnings and Notifications
- Familiarize yourself with local laws and regulations before assembly.
- Ensure a level and stable foundation; do not install on uneven ground.
- Assemble only in good weather conditions, avoiding heavy winds.
- At least 2-3 people are recommended for assembly due to the number of parts and time required.
- Wear protective gloves and long-sleeved shirts during assembly due to potentially sharp edges.
- Securely attach the greenhouse to its base and foundation to prevent movement in strong winds.
- Do not climb on the greenhouse roof due to the danger of collapsing.
- The 5-year warranty covers material and manufacturing defects of the frame and assembly parts, starting from the purchase date (receipt required). It does not cover damage to glass sheets, damage during transport or assembly, or damage from extreme weather or excessive snow loads. The warranty is void if the greenhouse is not assembled according to instructions.
