Replacing the valve stem in the GrillGun and Su-VGun
The sound and smell of leaking propane coming from the red knob on top of the torch when it is turned
off is indicative of faulty O-rings on the main valve stem.
Fortunately, you can easily replace this valve stem yourself with basic hand tools. The following step by
step process shows you how to replace the valve stem with faulty O-rings, with a new valve stem sent to
you by GrillBlazer Customer Support.
This new valve stem features larger O-rings, which will prevent future leaks. In this article, we will
show you how to replace the valve stem so that you do not encounter this problem again. The pictures in
this article will feature a Su-VGun, but the repair is also the same for the GrillGun. Video instructions
are also available at https://grillblazer.com/pages/replace-valve-stem.
Before you begin, make sure you have the following:
1. 7mm socket wrench
2. Crescent wrench or 14mm fixed wrench
3. Replacement valve stem from GrillBlazer Customer Support
Without the propane bottle connected, depress the handle to make sure there is no pressure in the torch.
1. Using the 7mm socket wrench, remove the nut from the top of the red knob. Be careful not to lose any
parts.
2. With the nut removed, pull the red knob off the valve stem and using a 14mm fixed wrench or
crescent wrench, loosen the nut around the valve stem and remove.
4. The middle of the red knob is square shaped and designed to fit onto the square tip of the valve stem.
Replace the red knob onto the valve stem, making sure the square edges line up properly, and use it to
unscrew and remove the old valve stem from the torch. Once removed, discard the old valve stem.
