MIB (Management Information Base):
The MIB describes the information (objects) available on the Agent.
There are two types of managed objects:
Scalar objects: A single object instance.
Tabular objects: Multiple objects grouped in tables.
Each object is described with:
Name or object identifier (OID)
Type (Integer, octect string, etc..)
Object Indentifiers:
Objects are organized into a tree.
An OID corresponds to a node in the "OID tree" or hierarchy.
Each node in the tree is represented by a series of integers separated by periods.
Example:
o 1: ISO
o 1.3 identified-organization
o 1.3.6 dod (Department of Defense)
o 1.3.6.1 internet
o 1.3.6.1.4 private
o 1.3.6.1.4.1 IANA (Internet Assigned Numbers Authority) enterprise numbers
o 1.3.6.1.4.1.23180 Televes Corporation
o 1.3.6.1.4.1.23180.2 Company of Televes Group
o 1.3.6.1.4.1.23180.2.2 Gsertel
