Overview

The TERZETT 754 is an electronic tape dispenser designed for gummed tape, suitable for various carton formats.

Function Description:

The TERZETT 754 processes all commercially available paper-based gummed tape rolls, whether reinforced with thread or unreinforced, with widths ranging from 30 to 100 mm and lengths up to 200 m. The maximum diameter of the tape roll is 210 mm. Its primary function is to measure, moisten, and cut strips of gummed paper tape to the desired length for packaging.

To enhance the activation of the tape's gumming, the machine is equipped with a continuously adjustable heating system located above the moistening brushes. The desired temperature can be set by rotating a knob clockwise from cold to hot. For normal operating conditions, the middle position is sufficient. A thermostat regulates the selected temperature, ensuring it remains constant.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Tape Compatibility: All commercially available paper-based gummed tape rolls, reinforced or unreinforced.
  • Tape Width: 30 to 100 mm.
  • Tape Length: Up to 200 m.
  • Maximum Roll Diameter: 210 mm.
  • Power Supply: 220V/50Hz.
  • Power Consumption: 100W.
  • Current: 2A.
  • Heating System: Continuously adjustable, located above moistening brushes.
  • Length Adjustment: Two lengths can be continuously pre-selected from 15 to 250 cm using rotary knobs on the control panel.
  • Delay Control: Adjustable from approximately 1 to 30 seconds for automatic and 1-2-2 modes.

Usage Features:

The machine's control panel (Figure 11) features several elements:

  • Program Selector Switch (MAN/AUTO/1-2-2): A sliding switch to select the operating mode.
  • "Delay" Rotary Knob: Adjusts the time delay between tape dispenses.
  • Blue and White Touchpads with Associated Rotary Knobs and Scales: Used to set and dispense pre-selected tape lengths. The colors of the touchpads correspond to their respective rotary knobs.

Setting Up the Machine:

  1. Unpacking: The machine is delivered in a special carton. Keep the original carton and packing materials for potential returns.
  2. Safety First: Always set up the machine when it is switched off and disconnected from the power supply.
  3. Accessing Internal Components:
    • Fold the keyboard console up to the right.
    • Fold the gray machine cover backward.
    • Fold down the left plastic side cover (Figure 1).
    • Lift the front flap (*) to remove the water tank.
  4. Preparing Brushes: Before first use, wash both moistening brushes thoroughly with warm soapy water to activate their capillary system. Insert the brushes into the water tank so that their higher edge faces forward (Figure 3). Reinsert the water tank into the machine.
  5. Filling Water Bottle: Fill the plastic water bottle with clean water. Keep the spout closed with a finger and insert the bottle into its holder so that the spout protrudes into the water tank's recess (Figure 4). Close the left plastic side cover and the front flap.
  6. Adjusting Water Level: To adjust the water level in the tank, loosen the two screws on the front bottle holder and move the holder to the desired position.
  7. Loading Tape Roll: Center the limiting plates in the tape basket so the tape roll can unwind freely. Feed the beginning of the tape, gummed side down, approximately 5 cm under the tape guide plate (Figure 5). Close the gray machine cover and the keyboard console.
  8. Power Connection: Connect the machine only to earthed sockets with a 220V/50Hz mains supply.
  9. Switching On: Press the rocker switch located on the front of the right plastic side cover (Figure 7). When the switch illuminates, the machine is ready for operation.

Operating Modes:

  • MANUAL MODE (MAN): After pre-selecting a length, pressing the white or blue touchpad dispenses the tape length set by the corresponding rotary knob. Touchpads can be used in any order.
  • AUTOMATIC MODE (AUTO): After pre-selecting a length, pressing the white or blue touchpad dispenses the desired length. Once the tape strip is removed, the next strip is automatically dispensed at the same length until a different length is selected, another touchpad is pressed, or the program selector is moved to a different position.
  • 1-2-2 MODE: This mode is ideal for continuous sealing of cartons using an "H" pattern (Figure 9).
    • Assignment: Length 1 (white touchpad), Length 2 (blue touchpad).
    • Start: Press the white touchpad.
    • Sequence: The machine dispenses the length assigned to the white touchpad once, then the length assigned to the blue touchpad twice. This sequence repeats.
  • "Delay" Function: The delay time between tape dispenses can be adjusted from 1 to 30 seconds by rotating the "Delay" knob. This prevents the subsequent tape strip from drying out after the previous one has been removed.
  • Continuous Key: A gray plastic button on the front right side cover allows for continuous tape dispensing as long as it is held down. This function can be used at any time.

Maintenance Features:

  • General Safety: All maintenance, cleaning, and care tasks must be performed when the machine is switched off and the power plug is disconnected.
  • Regular Cleaning: The machine does not require special maintenance but should be cleaned regularly depending on usage. This particularly applies to the water tank and moistening brushes. If necessary, clean the control panel with a lightly damp cloth.
  • Troubleshooting: Any malfunctions, such as paper jams, should only be resolved when the machine is switched off.
  • Repairs: Repairs, especially electrical ones, must only be carried out by trained specialists. In case of doubt, send the machine for repair, preferably in its original packaging, with a brief description of the fault.
  • Cable Inspection: After years of use, the power cable to the upper heater may become porous or brittle due to heat, water, and dust. This cable should be replaced immediately by a qualified electrician.
  • Cleaning Tools: Never use knives or sharp objects for cleaning, as this may damage cables or other components. Remove large paper scraps by hand or with pointed pliers. Smaller debris can be removed with a narrow vacuum cleaner nozzle.
  • Paper Jam Removal:
    1. Switch off the device and unplug it.
    2. Cut the tape immediately behind the upper tape guide to create space.
    3. Remove the upper tape guide.
    4. Remove any remaining tape scraps.
    5. Lift the upper heater to check for any other paper scraps in the system.
    6. Reinsert the upper tape guide and re-thread the tape.
  • Cleaning Water Bottle, Tank, and Brushes: These parts should be rinsed weekly with warm soapy water. This is especially important for the brush set, as glue residue tends to accumulate there. Neglecting this cleaning can cause the brushes to stick together, preventing optimal moistening over time.
  • Cleaning Cutter Assembly: Over time, especially when using reinforced gummed tape, reinforcing fibers can accumulate in the cutter assembly. Even unreinforced tape rolls can create dust and glue residue. Remove these residues with a small brush.

Regular maintenance and cleaning extend the lifespan of your device!
