Installation of devices
When installing devices, the following criteria
must be taken into account.
•
The number of devices installed may
not exceed the maximum power dissi-
pation of the media column.
•
Only install tested devices with CE
identification.
•
Installations in the media column may
not go below a minimum distance to
the brush outlet of 200 mm.
Implementing the protective equipotential
concept
Ensure that tangible parts, which may be live,
are integrated in the concept of the protective
equipotential bonding. Check them before
commissioning and at regular intervals.
•
Create the electrical equipotential
bonding to the central earthing point in
the distribution box via one of the two
earthing bolts (Page 8, Figure 9) in the
rear panel.
•
All the doors, panels, supporting ele-
ments, as well as the installation trough
and ceiling panel, must be included in
the protective equipotential bonding
of the media column using the earth-
ing kit supplied, 2VM00EK. Systemic
self-earthing is guaranteed for all other
components.
Completing assembly
•
Close all unrequired openings of the
media column using blank covers and
panels.
•
Test the function of all the protections.
•
Secure doors/panels with locks/screws
against opening by unqualified person-
nel.

Installation
Depending on the configuration of the media
column, the representations in these instruc-
tions may dier visually.
Danger
Electric shock when live parts
are touched!
An electric shock can lead to
death!
•
Isolate all connection cables
before working on the device
and cover any live parts in the
area!
•
Only use double-insulated
cables outside the small dis-
tribution board.
Danger
Improper and careless installa-
tion of the media column can
lead to physical injuries (e.g.
contusions).
•
Wear suitable protective
gloves and safety shoes.
•
During unpacking, lay the me-
dia column on the ground.
•
Install the media column with
two people.
Danger
Impairment of function due to
moisture!
When installing of the media
column above or below water
pipes, moisture may enter,
damaging the installation.
•
Select the location for instal-
lation so that no water pipes
are cross or are routed in the
vicinity.
Preconditions for wall installation
− The substrate for the rear panel of the
media column is flat and even.
− The wall is solid and non-combustible.
− The load-bearing capacity of the wall is
designed to hold the weight of the media
column.

Safety Information
Installation, commissioning, retroinstalla-
tions and dismantling may only be perfor-
med by a qualified electrician according to
the
appropriate installation standards and
safety regulations of the state
.
Access, which requires tools or keys, is
only permitted to qualified electricians,
with the exception of the insulated additio-
nal field with installation trough.
Non-observance of these instructions can
cause damage to the device, fire or other
dangers. In such cases, no warranty will
be accepted.
These instructions are a component of the
product and must be kept for the entire
lifespan. Read these instructions carefully
before beginning all work and before using
the product.
Function
Media columns are primarily used in schools
or similar facilities. They are used for cable
routing, as well as the integration of dierent
devices and connection points.
Correct use
− For the installation of room and operating
devices for lighting, shading and temper-
ature control
− For the installation of sockets for multi-
media applications and network devices
− For the installation of information tech-
nology, e.g. intercom system, clock,
loudspeakers
− For vertical wall mounting
− Only for use of cavity wall sockets for
thin planking
− Operation only at ambient temperatures
of -5 ... 35 °C
