Usage Features

The refrigerator-freezer offers several user-friendly features:

  • Control Panel: Located at the top of the appliance, it includes selectors for Holiday, Fridge, Freezer, My Zone (on specific models), and Panel Lock. It also features indicators for Super-cool Function, Temperature display, Super-freeze Function, Panel Lock Function, and Holiday Function.
  • Temperature Adjustment:
    • Fridge: Adjustable from 1°C to 9°C. The optimum temperature is 5°C.
    • Freezer: Adjustable from -14°C to -24°C. The optimum temperature is -18°C.
    • My Zone (HRF420BHS/BHC only): Adjustable from -1°C to 5°C, suitable for storing fruits, vegetables (2-4°C), beverages (0°C), and fresh seafood/meat (-1°C).
  • Special Functions:
    • Super Cool: Accelerates cooling of fresh food and protects existing stored goods. Automatically disables after 3 hours.
    • Super Freeze: Accelerates freezing of fresh food to preserve nutritional value, appearance, and taste. Recommended to activate 24 hours before freezing large amounts. Automatically disables after 50 hours.
    • Holiday Function (HRF420BW/BS/BC only): Sets the refrigerator temperature to 17°C, allowing the door to remain closed during long absences without odor or mold. The freezer compartment temperature remains at its set value. No food should be stored in the refrigerator compartment during this function.
  • Panel Lock: Locks all control panel elements to prevent accidental changes.
  • Door Opening Alarm: Activates if the fresh food compartment door is open for more than 3 minutes. If left open for more than 7 minutes, the fridge light and control panel illumination switch off automatically.
  • Multi-air-flow System: Ensures uniform temperature distribution on every shelf level for prolonged food freshness.
  • Adjustable Shelves: The height of cabinet shelves can be adjusted to fit various storage needs.
  • Removable Door Shelves: Door racks can be removed for easy cleaning.

  • Water Dispenser (HRF420BHS/BHC only): Provides cool drinking water. The water tank has a capacity of 1.8L and should be filled with drinking water only. It includes a cover for energy saving.
  • Ice Cube Tray: For making ice cubes.
  • Food Storage Guidelines:
    • Maintain fridge temperature below 5°C, freezer at -18°C.
    • Cool hot food to room temperature before storing.
    • Wash and dry foods before storing.
    • Seal food properly to avoid odor/taste alterations.
    • Avoid excessive quantities to allow proper air circulation.
    • Do not store food against the rear wall to prevent freezing.
    • Defreeze frozen food in the fridge compartment to save energy.
    • Certain fruits and vegetables (e.g., courgettes, melons, papaya, banana, pineapple) should not be stored in the refrigerator as their aging process can accelerate. Onions, garlic, ginger, and root vegetables should be stored at room temperature.
    • Do not store explosive substances, medicines, bacteria, or chemical agents.
    • Do not store liquids in bottles or cans (especially carbonated beverages) in the freezer, as they may burst.
    • Do not touch frozen goods with wet hands to avoid frost blisters.
    • Follow manufacturers' guidelines for commercially frozen foods.

Maintenance Features

  • Cleaning:
    • Disconnect the appliance from the power supply before cleaning.
    • Clean the appliance every four weeks.
    • Use warm water and a neutral detergent for cleaning inside and outside.
    • Do not use hard brushes, wire brushes, abrasive powders, organic solvents, acids, or alkaline solutions.
    • Do not spray or flush the appliance with water or steam.
    • Do not clean cold glass shelves with hot water.
    • Keep door gaskets clean.
    • Water Tank Cleaning (HRF420BHS/BHC only): The water tank and dispenser cock can be removed and cleaned with warm water and liquid dishwashing detergent.
  • Defrosting: The refrigerator and freezer compartments defrost automatically.
  • LED-lamps: LED lamps are used for lighting. In case of abnormality, contact customer service for replacement. Do not attempt to replace them yourself.
  • Non-use for a Longer Period:
    • Remove all food.
    • Unplug the power cord.
    • Clean the appliance.
    • Keep the door and freezer drawers/door open to prevent odors.
  • Moving the Appliance:
    • Remove all food and unplug.
    • Secure shelves and movable parts with adhesive tape.
    • Do not tilt the refrigerator more than 45° to avoid damaging the refrigerating system.
    • Do not lift by handles.
    • Never place horizontally on the ground.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides a comprehensive troubleshooting guide for common issues like compressor not working, frequent running, odors, moisture accumulation, ice/frost buildup, abnormal sounds, and power interruptions.
