CONDITION TONE DESCRIPTION
COMSEC Initialization Continuous beeps Key twice with COMSEC control in TD or C.
Cipher TX Ready Single beep After keydown in TX mode. Shows that
transmit can occur.
Receiving Plain Text Double beep A plain-text signal is received in C or TD.
A double beep is heard when the signal is
first received and every 10 seconds while
the signal is being received.
COMSEC Alarm Continuous tone No crypto variable is loaded during
COMSEC initialization. Change to channel
with crypto variable or select a crypto
variable and key twice.
OR
No crypto variable is present when keyed.
Change to channel with crypto variable or
select a crypto variable and key once.
COMSEC Zeroize Continuous beeps COMSEC control is in Z ALL or Z 1–5.
Loading Variables Single beep Successful load.
Continuous beeps Bad load.
