OPERATION
WARNING:
To avoid accidental starting that could result in serious
personalinjury,alwaysremovethestartkeywhenmoving
ortransportingthemower.
NOTE: Thebatterystoragecompartmentoffersaconvenient
placeforstoringyourbattery,ortostoreanextrabatterypack.
The unit cannot be powered by the battery while it is installed
inthebatterystoragecompartment;itmustbemovedtothe
batteryportinordertopowertheunitfromthebatteryport.
STARTING/STOPPING THE MOWER
See Figures 10 - 12.
Raisethebatterycover.
Installbatterypackintothebatteryport.
Insert the start key into the slot beside the battery storage
compartment.
Lowerthebatterycover.
Raisethehandleassemblyasdescribedearlier.
NOTE: The mower will not start if the handle assembly is
notintheoperatingposition.
Pressandholdthestartbutton.Pullthebailtowardthe
handleandreleasethebuttontostartthemower.
NOTE: The blades will also start if the bail is pulled first
and thestartbuttonispressedafter.
Tostopthemower,releasethebail.
MOWING TIPS
Make sure the lawn is clear of stones, sticks, wires, and
other objects that could damage the lawn mower blades
ormotor.Donotmowoverpropertystakesorothermetal
posts.Suchobjectscoulddamagethebladeorbeacci-
dentally thrown by the mower in any direction and cause
seriouspersonalinjurytotheoperatorandothers.
For a healthy lawn, always cut off one-third or less of the
totallengthofthegrass.
Whencuttingheavygrass,reducewalkingspeedtoallow
formoreeffectivecuttingandaproperdischargeofthe
clippings.
Donotcutwetgrass.Itwillsticktotheundersideofthe
deck and prevent proper bagging or mulchingof grass
clippings.
Neworthickgrassmayrequireanarrowercutorahigher
cuttingheight.
Clean the underside of the mower deck after each use to
removegrassclippings,leaves,dirt,andanyotheraccu-
mulateddebris.
NOTE:Alwaysstopmower,allowbladestocompletely
stop,removethestartkeyandremovethebatterypack
from the battery port before cleaning underneath the
mower.
SLOPE OPERATION
See Figure 13.
WARNING:
Slopes are a major factor related to slip and fall accidents
thatcanresultinsevereinjury.Operationonslopesre-
quiresextracaution.Ifyoufeeluneasyonaslope,donot
mowit.Foryoursafety,donotattempttomowslopes
greaterthan15degrees.
Mowacrossthefaceofslopes,notupanddown.Exercise
extremecautionwhenchangingdirectiononslopes.
Watch for holes, ruts, rocks, hidden objects, or bumps
whichcan causeyouto sliportrip. Tallgrasscanhide
obstacles.Removeallobjectssuchasrocks,treelimbs,
etc.,whichcouldbetrippedoverorthrownbytheblade.
Alwaysbesureofyourfooting.Aslipandfallcancause
seriouspersonalinjury.Ifyoufeelyouarelosingyourbal-
ance,releasetheupperbladecontrolleverimmediately.
Do not mow near drop-offs, ditches, or embankments; you
couldloseyourfootingorbalance.
EMPTYING THE GRASS CATCHER

Stopthemowerandallowbladestocompletelystop.
Openbatterycover.
Removestartkeyandbatterypackfromthebatteryport.
Liftthereardischargedoor.
Liftthegrasscatcherbyitshandletoremovefrommower.
Emptygrassclippings.
Lift the rear discharge door and reinstall the grass catcher
asdescribedearlierinthismanual.
Reinstallstartkeyandbatterypackwhenyouareready
tomow.
