4 Turn the engine in the sense of
rotation until the rocker arm (1)
has fully opened the outlet
valve. Then check the tappet
clearance at the rocker arm (2)
with a feeler gauge (3). For the
setting, see the chapter 4.1

5 Turn the engine in the sense of
rotation until the rocker arm (2)
has fully opened the intake
valve. Now check the tappet
clearance at the rocker arm
(1).
6 If the tappet clearance needs
to corrected:
Release the screw (4) and turn
the hex nut (5) so the feeler
gauge (3) can be pulled
through with a barely percepti-
ble resistance after the screw
(4) is tightened again.
7 Mount the cylinder head cover
with the new gasket and
tighten evenly.
8 Fully assemble the engine.
9 Perform a test run. Check the
cylinder head cover for tight-
ness.

Danger of burns.
There is a danger of burns when working on a hot engine.
Let the engine cool before maintenance.
