When performing the kicking action, position
your foot close to the rear bumper and kick
the tip of your foot at least 10 cm below the
bumper. Do not touch the bumper. Then,
quickly retract your foot. Otherwise, you may
not be able to open or close the tailgate.
If you move your leg horizontally below the
bumper, the tailgate may not open or close.
If the kicking action under the bumper takes
too long or the kick is too slow, the tailgate
will not open or close. If this occurs, repeat
the kicking action faster.
If the tailgate does not open after several
kicks, wait a few moments and try again.
If you are not carrying the smart key,
performing a similar kicking action in the
detection area under the rear bumper can
also close the tailgate.
⚠ Caution
When using a car wash or using a high-
pressure hose to wash the car, make sure that
the smart key is not inside the detection range
of the tailgate, so as to prevent the tailgate
from being opened accidentally.
⚠ Warning
Be sure to kick only within the detection
range of the sensor. Otherwise, you may get
burned by touching the exhaust system.
When performing the kicking action, be sure
you keep your balance and stay a sufficient
distance from the rear of the vehicle.
Otherwise, you may lose your balance (for
example: if on ice).
In the following situations, do not carry the smart
key to prevent the tailgate from accidentally
opening or closing. When placing or picking up
items behind the vehicle. Polishing the vehicle's
rear and other maintenance work.
⚠ Warning
In some situations, if quired, be sure to push
down the tailgate from outside the vehicle to
fully close it. If you only use the hand grip to
close the tailgate directly, it is easy to trap
your hand, and this could cause an injury.
Driving the vehicle with the tailgate open is
prohibited.
It is prohibited to carry passengers in the
luggage compartment.
If there are other people in the vicinity of the
tailgate, ensure that they are not hurt when
opening or closing the tailgate.
When closing the tailgate, ensure that nothing
you are carrying or wearing becomes trapped in
the door.
Do not let children operate the tailgate. This
could lead to an injury.
