Overview

This document describes the Healthy Choice K100 1 Litre Cordless Kettle, a stainless steel finish appliance designed for household use.

Function Description:

The Healthy Choice K100 is a cordless electric kettle primarily designed for boiling water. It features a 1-litre capacity and operates on a power base, allowing for easy portability of the kettle itself. The appliance is intended solely for boiling water; heating other liquids like milk or carbonated drinks is explicitly warned against as it can cause malfunction or damage.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Model: K100
  • Batch: PR4349
  • Capacity: 1.0 Litre (with markings for MAX 1.0L, 0.75L, 0.5L, and MIN)
  • Material: Stainless Steel finish
  • Power: Operates on local voltage corresponding to specifications on the appliance nameplate.
  • Safety Features:
    • Automatic shut-off when water boils.
    • Boil-dry protection: Automatically shuts off if operated without water. If activated, the kettle needs to cool for 15 minutes before refilling and reuse.
    • Power switch illuminates blue when on and flips upward to 'O' position when off or when water boils.

Usage Features:

  • Cordless Design: The kettle sits on a separate power base, allowing the kettle body to be lifted and moved without the cord.
  • Water Level Indicator: A transparent window on the side of the kettle, under the handle, allows users to easily monitor the water level.
  • Lid Release Button: Located on the upper handle, this button facilitates easy opening of the lid for filling. The lid must be pressed down firmly to secure it shut.
  • Power Switch: A downward press to the 'I' position switches the kettle on, and it illuminates blue. Flipping it upward to the 'O' position switches it off.
  • Filling Guidelines: The kettle should be filled with fresh tap water between 0.5 litres (MIN) and 1.0 litre (MAX). Overfilling can cause boiling water to spill, and underfilling (less than 0.5 litres) can lead to overheating.
  • Operation:
    1. Open the lid using the release button.
    2. Fill with fresh tap water within the specified range (0.5L to 1.0L).
    3. Securely close the lid.
    4. Plug the power lead into a dedicated mains power supply.
    5. Place the kettle on its base.
    6. Press the power switch downward to the 'I' position; it will illuminate blue.
    7. The kettle will automatically turn off when water boils, and the power switch will flip upward to the 'O' position and stop illuminating.
    8. To stop heating before boiling, manually flip the power switch upward to 'O'.
    9. After boiling, wait for simmering to stop before removing the kettle from the base.
    10. Pour water slowly to avoid splashing. Do not open the lid while pouring or while water is boiling.
  • Filter in Spout: A filter is integrated into the spout to prevent larger particles of scale from pouring out.
  • First-time Use: Before initial use, boil fresh tap water at least twice in the appliance and discard it. Use only water without additives.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning:
    • Always unplug the appliance and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
    • The exterior can be cleaned with a slightly damp cloth without additives.
    • Do not use abrasive cleaning products or abrasive scourers.
    • Filter Cleaning: The filter can be removed by pressing a square-shaped release button through the spout and pulling it out. Rinse it under warm soapy water, dry thoroughly, and then slide it back into position, ensuring it's fully secure. The filter is not dishwasher safe.
    • Do not use alkaline cleaning agents to prevent damage.
  • Descaling:
    • Descaling is necessary when the kettle switches off before water boils or if limescale is visibly encrusted.
    • Recommended descaling solution: 3:1 ratio of tap water and vinegar, or 3:1 ratio of tap water and citric acid.
    • Process: Let the solution soak inside the kettle for at least one hour, then bring it to a boil. Safely pour out the excess water and thoroughly rinse the inside of the kettle with fresh tap water.
    • Regular descaling saves energy and extends the kettle's service life.
  • Storage: Allow the appliance to cool completely before storing. Store it in an upright position in a dry location.
  • Disposal: At the end of its life cycle, the appliance should be handed in at an official recycling collection point, not thrown away.

Important Safeguards and Warnings:

  • Read instructions carefully before use.
  • Remove all packaging materials safely, keeping them away from children.
  • Operate on a level, stable, non-combustible horizontal surface. Avoid inclined planes or combustible materials.
  • Do not place near hot gas/electric burners or heated ovens.
  • Never connect to an external timer or remote-control system.
  • Do not use with an extension cord or power board; plug into a dedicated power point.
  • Keep the power base, plug, and mains power lead away from water or other liquids to prevent electric shock. Do not immerse the kettle housing in water.
  • Do not touch with wet hands.
  • Unplug when not in use, before cleaning, or during disturbances/thunderstorms.
  • Allow to cool before cleaning.
  • The appliance has no user-serviceable parts; repairs must be done by a qualified technician.
  • Do not use if damaged (plug, power lead, or unit).
  • Intended for household use only, not outdoors or commercial purposes.
  • Close supervision is necessary when used near children; keep out of reach.
  • Do not move the hot kettle during operation; only hold by the handle.
  • Be careful of rising steam to avoid scalding; ensure the lid is securely closed.
  • Do not let the power lead hang over the edge of a table or counter.
  • Do not unplug by pulling the power lead.
  • Not for use by persons with physical, sensory, or mental impairment, or lack of experience/knowledge, unless supervised.
  • Do not leave unattended while operating.
  • Direct spout away from furniture/walls to prevent steam damage.
  • Avoid spillage on the connector.
  • Ensure the kettle is switched off before removing it from the power base.
  • Only use the provided power base.
