This document provides instructions for use of the Hegen Teat, a feeding teat designed for use with Hegen Feeding bottles. The teats are BPA-free, BPS-free, phthalate-free, and PVC-free, ensuring safety for infant feeding.
Function Description:
The Hegen Teat is designed to facilitate the feeding of fluids to infants. It is available in various flow rates to accommodate different feeding stages and needs of a baby. The different flow rates are:
- Extra Slow Flow: Suitable for newborns (0m+).
- Slow Flow: Recommended for infants 1 month and older (1m+).
- Med Flow: Designed for infants 3 months and older (3m+).
- Fast Flow: Appropriate for infants 6 months and older (6m+).
- Thick Feed: Also suitable for infants 6 months and older (6m+), likely for thicker liquids or purees.
The teat is intended to be used with Hegen Feeding bottles exclusively. It features an ANTI-COLIC AIR VENT, which is crucial for reducing air intake during feeding, thereby minimizing discomfort for the baby.
Important Technical Specifications:
- Material Composition: BPA-free, BPS-free, Phthalate-free, and PVC-free. This indicates a commitment to using safe, non-toxic materials for infant products.
- Flow Rates: Five distinct flow rates are available, catering to different age groups and feeding requirements: Extra Slow, Slow, Med, Fast, and Thick Feed.
- Compatibility: Specifically designed for use with Hegen Feeding bottles.
Usage Features:
- Flow Rate Selection: Users are instructed to select a teat with the correct flow rate for their baby to ensure appropriate feeding.
- Adult Supervision: The product must always be used with adult supervision to ensure the safety of the child.
- Temperature Check: Always check the food temperature before feeding to prevent burns.
- Storage of Components: All components not in use should be kept out of the reach of children.
- Microwave Use: When warming contents in a microwave, the bottle should not be sealed. The teat, collar, and cover must be removed. Extra care is advised during microwave heating, and heated food should be stirred to ensure even heat distribution, with the temperature tested before serving. The product should not be placed in a heated oven.
- Not a Toy: The teat is not a toy, and children should not be allowed to play with small parts or walk/run while using bottles or cups.
- Breast Milk Storage: Expressed breast milk can be stored in sterilised Hegen feeding bottles/breast milk storage containers in the refrigerator for up to 48 hours (not in the door) and in the freezer for 3-6 months. It is important never to refreeze breast milk or add fresh breast milk to already chilled/frozen milk.
- Assembly: Proper assembly is necessary to ensure a leak-free seal.
Maintenance Features:
- Pre-Use Cleaning: Before first use, the product must be cleaned. It should be placed in boiling water for 5 minutes to ensure hygiene.
- Regular Cleaning: The product should be washed immediately after each use. All parts must be disassembled and washed in warm soapy water, then rinsed thoroughly with clean water.
- Dishwasher Safe: The product is dishwasher safe, but only on the top rack.
- Inspection: Before each use, inspect the teat by pulling it in all directions. It should be discarded at the first signs of damage or weakness.
- Replacement Schedule: For safety and hygiene reasons, teats should be replaced every 3 months.
- Avoid Harsh Cleaners: Do not use abrasive cleaning agents or solvents, as these can cause damage.
- Care for ANTI-COLIC AIR VENT: Special care is required when cleaning the ANTI-COLIC AIR VENT. A teat brush or any other implement should not be used to clean this vent, as it may damage it. Cleaning the product with a wired bottle brush may cause scratches.
- Environmental Factors: Do not leave the feeding teat in direct sunlight or heat. Avoid leaving it in disinfectant ("sterilising solution") for longer than recommended, as this may weaken the teat. Plastic materials can be affected by high temperatures and sterilising, which may impact the fitting of the product. Do not place components directly on surfaces cleaned with anti-bacterial cleaners.
- Staining: Food colouring may stain parts of the product.
