July 2013 6.4 Axis-error compensation 665
Error classes The following error classes can occur and can be compensated for with
KinematicsComp:
Geometry errors (static) – (nonlinear) deviations between machine
coordinate system and CNC depend on:
• Accuracy of measuring systems
• Straightness, angularity of the machine
• Accuracy of the kinematics model
• Axis offset and positioning errors
• Friction, backlash and Abbé error
Thermally induced errors (quasi-static) – inhomogeneous temperature
distribution in the machine parts:
• Spindle
• Feed drives
•Cooling
• Symmetry of machine frame
