D. Maintenance of commutator
a. Grinding of brush
a) When replacing brush, grind it with 00# sand paper and move left or right.
b) After grinding brush or cleaning commutator, motor should run with load and limited speed
to ensure safety, until the brush surface shine.
b. Maintenance of commutator
a) When commutator surface is sunken 0.5mm by abrasion, lathe it. The radial move of
commutator should not be more than 0.04mm, and surface finish 1.6.
b) Commutator plate insulation cannot be taller than surface. Plane or mill it if necessary
and incision depth is 1mm.
c) Commutator surface is light red after using some time, and all copper plates have same
color. It is regular condition. Copper plate is dark red if there is bug.
