Usage Features

The coffee maker is straightforward to operate.

Preparing for Use:

  1. Place the appliance on a stable, flat surface.
  2. Insert the filter into its holder.
  3. Fill the coffee pot with cold water and pour it into the water reservoir. Wait 1 minute for air to be forced out of the appliance.
  4. Place an empty coffee pot under the filter pan.
  5. Turn the power switch ON. Hot water will begin to drip into the pot.
  6. The in-use indicator lamp will turn off after 4-5 minutes.
  7. Repeat steps 3-7 several times to thoroughly clean the appliance before first use. Steam and gurgling sounds are normal during this process.
    • Safety Note: Never pour hot water into the water reservoir. Never exceed one decanter of water in the reservoir.

Making Coffee:

  1. Prepare the filter pan as described, adding 75-90g of ground coffee per 1.6-1.8 litres of water, depending on taste.
  2. Place the filter pan in the holder.
  3. Fill the coffee pot (glass decanter, vacuum pot, or thermos, depending on model) with the desired amount of water and pour it into the water reservoir.
  4. Place the empty pot directly under the filter pan.
  5. Turn the power switch ON. The in-use indicator lamp will light up, indicating operation has started.
  6. Coffee will begin to drip into the pot.
  7. Once all water has passed through, the indicator lamp will switch off.
  8. Turn off the power switch and close the thermos lid (if applicable). Coffee is ready to serve.
  9. The appliance has an overflow tube, but it is recommended not to fill the reservoir with more than 1.8 litres of water.
  10. Some water will always remain in the machine. If storing or moving the appliance for a long time, empty and clean it first.
  11. If emptied, repeat steps 1-7 of "Preparing the appliance for use" before re-using.
  12. For short periods of disuse, rinse with clean water before use.
    • Reminder: Always turn off the appliance after use.

Maintenance Features

Cleaning:

It is crucial to clean the appliance and its parts after each use. Dirt or deposits on the appliance, filter pan, pot, or water tubes can be removed with a soft, wet cloth and a mild cleaner. Abrasive or corrosive cleaners should never be used.

Descaling:

Limestone deposits will accumulate on the heating element over time. Regular descaling is recommended to maintain optimal performance and coffee flavour. The red warning light on the front of the machine indicates when descaling is necessary.

  1. Use a descaling agent suitable for coffee makers, or pure lemon juice, citric acid, or cleaning vinegar (1/3 agent to 2/3 water).
  2. Place the filter pan in the holder and an empty coffee pot underneath.
  3. Pour the descaling solution into the water reservoir.
  4. Turn the power switch ON.
  5. Allow any remaining water to pass through. Once the solution starts flowing, turn off the appliance.
  6. Wait 5-6 minutes for the solution to break down calcium deposits.
  7. Turn the appliance on again to allow the solution (with dissolved calcium) to pass through.
  8. Once all solution has passed, turn off the appliance and discard the solution.
  9. Pour clean water into the reservoir and run it through the appliance (repeat steps 1-7 of "Preparing the appliance for use") until the smell and taste of the solution are completely gone.
  10. The appliance is then ready for use.

Regular Maintenance:

To prevent the red light from illuminating (indicating descaling is needed) and extend the coffee maker's lifespan, regular maintenance with a descaling agent (or lemon juice/citric acid/cleaning vinegar) is recommended, following the same procedure as descaling.

  • Note: Warranty is void if failure to descale regularly leads to reduced functioning or failure of the appliance.

Troubleshooting:

The manual provides a table of possible problems, causes, and solutions, such as:

  • No power/lights: Check if plugged in, power switch broken.
  • Power on, but no brewing: Relay broken, water level sensor broken.
  • Power on, lights on, but no water flow: Heating element broken, temperature safety device damaged.
  • Interrupted water flow: Relay broken, temperature safety device damaged.
  • Fuse blows: Short circuit.
  • Important: Always empty the appliance before repair. If in doubt, contact your supplier.

Warranty and Environment:

The appliance comes with a one-year warranty for defects, provided it has been used and maintained according to instructions and not abused. Proof of purchase is required for warranty claims. Hendi reserves the right to change product specifications without notice. At the end of its life, the appliance should be disposed of according to applicable regulations. Packaging materials should be recycled in appropriate containers.
