FUEL
Fuel requirements for diesel engines
Diesel engines must be operated only on commercially available ultra low sulphur diesel
fuel meeting the requirements of the Australian National Fuel Standards. The use of
bio-diesel containing up to 5% fatty acid methyl ester (“FAME”) also known as “B5” is
also permitted provided that the fuel properties still meet the Australian National Fuel
Standards. Do not use marine diesel oils, heating oils or entirely or partially plant-based
diesel fuels, such as rape seed oil or bio-diesel containing more than 5% FAME.
WARNING
Use only Ultra Low Sulphur Diesel (ULSD) fuel or bio-diesel containing up to 5%
FAME that meet the Australian National Fuel Standards based on EN590. Use of
any fuel other than the fuels specied, may cause serious damage to your vehicle
and may void your new vehicle warranty.
Note From January 1, 2006, ULSD became the national standard for diesel fuel sold
within Australia.
Fuel requirements for petrol engines
Note Use UNLEADED PETROL of 91 (RON) octane rating or higher.
High octane unleaded petrol (premium etc.) may be used, but is not required for your
vehicle. The use of fuel with a lower octane rating than recommended may cause
engine knock. Continued use of such fuel can cause engine damage and void the
warranty. If you detect a heavy engine knock even when using fuel of the recommended
octane rating, have the engine checked.
