Driving and operating 123
Drive systems
All Wheel Drive (AWD)
The vehicle may have an AWD
system.
• AWD operates automatically
without any action required by
the driver.
• If the front drive wheels slip, the
rear wheels automatically drive
the vehicle.
• There may be a slight noise
during hard use. This is normal.
• ashes on the instrument
panel when the AWD system is
temporarily disabled.
If ashes briey and then
stops, this is normal. It does not
indicate a system fault.
• If ashes continuously, a
malfunction has occurred.

Difcult conditions
It is better to stop the vehicle well
before a hazard and check on foot
before driving the vehicle through it.
If the ground is very uneven or rocky,
do not grip the steering wheel rim
with your thumbs. A sudden steering
kickback due to an unseen obstacle
could cause injury.
Ensure all luggage and equipment
is securely tied down when driving
over rough or uneven surfaces.
Brakes
Antilock Brake System
(ABS)
The ABS:
• Continuously monitors the
vehicle’s braking system
preventing the wheels from
locking up.
• Allows maximum braking effort
while full steering control is
retained, even in the event of
panic braking.
Warning
Do not let this special safety
feature tempt you into taking
risks when driving. Trafc safety
can only be achieved by adopting
a responsible driving style. The
vehicle’s speed should always be
adjusted to suit road and trafc
conditions.
