Towing
Towing the vehicle
The best method is to have the
vehicle transported using a recovery
vehicle.
The towing by two wheels is not
suitable and may cause damage to
the vehicle.
Please observe the following
procedures when towing a vehicle:
● No passenger should remain in
the vehicle being towed.
● Release the parking brake of the
towed vehicle and place the
transmission gear in neutral.
● Switch on the emergency
warning lights.
● Keep the speed limits.
If it is not possible to have your vehicle
towed by a recovery vehicle, proceed
as follows:
Insert a screwdriver in the slot at the
outside of the cap. Release the cap
by carefully moving the screwdriver
sideways.
The towing eye is stowed with the
vehicle tools 3 162.
Screw in the towing eye as far as it will
go until it stops in a horizontal
position.
Attach a tow rope – or better still a tow
rod – to the towing eye.
The towing eye must only be used for
towing and not for recovering the
vehicle.
