Towing the vehicle
Caution
Automatic transmission: Do not
tow the vehicle using the towing
eye, the transmission may be
severely damaged.
Manual transmission: The vehicle
may be towed facing forward at a
maximum speed of 80 km/h.
Proper lifting or towing equipment is
necessary when lifting or towing the
vehicle to prevent damage. State
and local laws must be followed.
Note
• A driver must be in the vehicle to
steer and operate the brakes.
• Release the park brake and
place the shift lever in neutral.
• Drive slowly when towing.
• When the engine is not running,
considerably more force is
needed to brake and steer.
• To prevent the entry of exhaust
fumes from the towing vehicle,
close the windows and press 4.
• When the transmission is
defective, the front axle must be
raised off the ground.
1. Use a screwdriver to disengage
and remove the cap.
2. Remove the towing eye from the
load compartment.

3. Screw in the towing eye
anticlockwise until it stops in a
horizontal position.
4. Fit the towing equipment to the
front towing eye.
Note
The towing eye must only be
used for towing and not for
recovering the vehicle.
5. Turn the ignition on to release
the steering column and to
operate the brake lamps, horn
and windscreen wipers.
6. Place the shift lever into neutral.
