Power mode
For ordinary driving conditions, the normal
driving mode is used. This mode is active
unless another mode is selected.
When faster acceleration is required,
press the PWR button, which is located on
the left-hand side of the transmission shift
lever. The power mode provides higher
shifting speeds. The POWER DRIVE
indicator light on the instrument panel will
illuminate when this mode is active.
3rd MODE
The 3rd mode button is used when
driving on slippery muddy roads. This
mode forces the vehicle to operate in 3rd
gear, providing better traction and safer
vehicle operation.
Note Take-off is in 3rd gear, but the
transmission will change into 4th gear
as normal.
To engage 3rd mode
To use 3rd mode, press the 3rd mode
button, which is located on the left-hand
side of the transmission shift lever.
For the 3rd mode to engage and operate, the transmission shift lever must be in
D, N, R, P
and the vehicle must be moving less than 11 km/h.
The 3rd STRT indicator light on the instrument panel illuminates when this mode is
active. Refer to Warning/reminder indications in chapter 1A.
To disengage the 3rd mode
Move the shift lever to any position other than D, N, R, or P,
Press the 3rd mode button again, or
Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
Note
The 3rd mode will automatically disengage whenever vehicle speed exceeds
34 km/h.
Use the 3rd mode only for slippery road conditions. Using it under ordinary driving
conditions will result in sluggish performance and a rise in automatic transmission
uid temperature.
