AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
3
DEFAULTS (SAFETY MODE)
If the CHECK TRANS warning light
ashes, the computer controlling the
transmission has found a problem. The
vehicle can be driven when the light is
ashing, however, it should be checked by
your Holden Dealer as soon as possible.
Depending on the nature of the problem,
the transmission may still be able
to change gears without the driver’s
assistance. However, in some cases
the transmission’s computer may put
the transmission into safety mode. In
safety mode, the transmission may not
shift automatically. You must then shift
the transmission lever to select gears
manually. Refer to the table shown. The
shift feel is rmer to prevent slipping and
consequent wear.

For safety, the transmission has an
electric park lock (called BTSI) that
requires the key to be in the ignition, in
the
ON position, and the brake pedal to
be pressed before the transmission gear
selector can be moved from the P (park)
position. If the battery is at, the selector
cannot be moved as required for towing
unless BTSI is disengaged manually.
To disengage BTSI:
1. Apply the park brake.
2. Push the override SHIFT LOCK button (as shown), depress the brake pedal, press
the select button and move the transmission gear selector to position N (neutral).
Note
The SHIFT LOCK button must be pushed prior to the transmission select button.
The transmission selector locks again if it is moved back to the park position.
