FUEL cont.
FUEL TYPES
WARNING
The use of fuel, other than the fuel specied, may cause serious damage to your
vehicle and may void your warranty. Only clean fuel of good quality should be used.
PETROL ENGINES
Use UNLEADED PETROL of 91 octane rating or higher.
High octane unleaded petrol (premium etc.) may be used, but is not required for your
vehicle. The use of any other fuel would seriously damage the engine of your vehicle
and may void your warranty. Only clean petrol of good quality should be used.
DIESEL ENGINES
Fuel requirements for diesel engines
Diesel engines must be operated only on commercially available diesel fuel meeting
the requirements of Euro standards EN590. The use of bio-diesel containing up to 5%
fatty acid methyl ester (“FAME”) also known as “B5” is also permitted provided that
the FAME meets the Euro Standard EN14214, and the resultant B5 blend meets Euro
Standard EN590. Do not use marine diesel oils or heating oils.
WARNING
Use only bio-diesel blends containing up to a maximum of 5% FAME that meets Euro
standards EN590. Purchasing your fuel from a reputable fuel retailer may reduce the
risk of purchasing fuel with more than 5% FAME or fuel which contains abnormal fuel
properties. Use of any other bio-diesel that does not have the certication referred to
above, or has a FAME content exceeding 5%, may cause serious damage to your
vehicle (including engine failure). Damage attributable to the use of non certied
bio-diesel is not covered by your New Vehicle Warranty. In no event will GM Holden be
responsible or bear any liability for any damage or loss that may arise in connection
with the use of any fuel that does not meet this specication.
Diesel fuel lter/water separator
The vehicle’s fuel system is tted with a diesel fuel lter and water separator. Warning/
indicator lights on the instrument panel will illuminate when attention is required.
Water separator:
If this warning/indicator light illuminates on the instrument panel, the water
separator requires draining. Refer to Diesel fuel system in chapter 6.
Diesel fuel lter:
If this warning/indicator light illuminates on the instrument panel, the diesel fuel
lter requires replacement. Contact your Holden Dealer as soon as possible.
Note
If the diesel engine runs out of fuel, the fuel system must be ‘bled’ after the tank is
lled. Refer to Diesel fuel system in chapter 6.
Do not use additives to the fuel to facilitate water separation from the fuel system.
