MOVING A DISABLED
VEHICLE WITH AUTOMATIC
TRANSMISSION
3
For safety, the transmission has an
electric park lock (called BTSI) that
requires the key to be in the ignition, in
the
ON position, and the brake pedal to
be pressed before the transmission gear
selector can be moved from the P (park)
position. If the battery is at, the selector
cannot be moved as required for towing
unless BTSI is disengaged manually.
To disengage BTSI:
1. Apply the park brake.
2. Push the override SHIFT LOCK button (as shown), depress the brake pedal, press
the select button and move the transmission gear selector to position N (neutral).
Note
• The SHIFT LOCK button must be pushed prior to the transmission select button.
• The transmission selector locks again if it is moved back to the park position.
