CRUISE CONTROL
3
WARNING
• The cruise control can keep the vehicle at a preset speed without having to use
the accelerator pedal. This is useful when driving on open roads where frequent
deceleration and acceleration are not required. Cruise control does not operate at
speeds below 40 km/h.
• Do not use cruise control when the road or driving conditions could require varying
speeds. A constant speed is not practical in heavy or varying trafc or on winding,
slippery or rough roads.
• With manual transmission, never attempt to move the gear lever without using the
clutch pedal while the cruise control is maintaining vehicle speed. The resultant
increase in engine speed may cause damage.
• Remember that when both the cruise control main switch indicator light and cruise
set m light are illuminated the cruise control is maintaining the vehicle speed.
Releasing the accelerator pedal will not reduce vehicle speed.
• When driving up and down hills (particularly when towing) it is possible for the
vehicle to gain or lose speed even though the cruise control is active. If this happens
while going up a hill, apply the accelerator pedal to maintain the desired speed. If
going down a hill, apply the brake pedal, which will both disengage the cruise
control and reduce the vehicle speed within safe limits.
• If a malfunction has developed in the cruise control system, have the system
checked and corrected by your Holden Dealer as soon as possible.
Cruise control main switch
The cruise control main switch is located
to the right of the steering wheel, on the
dashboard.
The indicator light illuminates to indicate
that cruise control is ready for the desired
speed to be set.
Cruise set indicator light:
System active
The cruise set m indicator light on the
instrument panel (refer to Dashboard
layout previously in this chapter)
illuminates when the cruise control is
maintaining vehicle speed.
Turning cruise control on
To turn the cruise control on, push the cruise control main switch. The indicator light
illuminates.
Note The cruise control must be switched on before a speed can be set, however, it
remains inactive until a speed is set.
