110 Lighting
High/low beam
To activate high beam:
• With the headlamps on, push the
lever toward the front of vehicle
until it clicks, then release.
• The high beam indicator lamp
P illuminates on the instrument
panel.
To return to low beam:
• Pull the lever toward the rear of
the vehicle.
To fl ash the high beam lamps:
• Pull the lever toward the rear of
the vehicle and release.
• The high beam lamps can be
fl ashed even if the headlamps
and/or ignition are off.
Automatic headlamps
When the lamp control is in the
AUTO position, the headlamps and
park lamps automatically switch off
and on according to the ambient light.
Note
• Keep the sensor clean and do
not cover. See Instrument panel
overview on page 67 .
• The headlamps, park lamps,
reverse lamps and puddle lamps
are activated by the approach
lighting feature. See Approach
lighting on page 111 .
Warning
The automatic headlamp sensor
cannot replace the driver’s
personal judgement of the
prevailing light conditions. For
example, the sensor is unable to
detect foggy conditions.
In situations such as this, set
the lamp switch to 9, otherwise
your safety and that of other road
users could be endangered.
• Do not leave the headlamps or
park lamps on when the engine
is not running.
• To prevent the battery from
becoming fl at, the headlamps
and park lamps switch off when
the ignition is turned to the lock
position.
The lamps stay off until the
ignition is turned on or the lamps
are switched on using the lamp
control.
