Engine performance/ fuel
economy
A small decrease in engine power
and a slight increase in fuel
consumption will be noticed when
the air conditioning is in use.
At high speeds or during heavy
acceleration the air conditioning
may switch off momentarily.
Adjusting the temperature
When the climate control system
has stabilised, adjust settings
one degree at a time.
Quick cool down
When entering the vehicle on a hot
day, open the windows for a short
time to allow t he hot air to escape
before operating the air
conditioning.
Ignition keys
For vehicles equipped with personal
identity keys, pressing
K sets the
climate control to the last
adjustments used for that key. See
Personal identity keys under Keys
on page 21.
Automatic transmission
If the vehicle is stopped for a long
time in hot weather with the engine
running and the air conditi oning
operating, move the gear lever to N
or P.
Hissing
A slight hissing sound when the air
conditioning switches off is normal.
Water
Water condensation can leave
traces of clear water on the ground
underneath the vehicle.
Unsealed roads (prevention of
dust entry)

When following another vehicle
on unsealed roads where there
is airborne dust, select
recirculation
/ (L).
.
If the dust is not airborne, select
outside air and set the fan to
high speed to help prevent dust
entry.

Ensure in both cases that the
windows are closed.
.
Do not use recirculation for long
periods of time.
Sensors
The climate control uses three
sensors to maintain temperatures:
.
The sunlight sensor is located
on top of the dashboard. See
Instrument Panel Overview on
page 52.
It monitors solar radiation when
operating in AUTO mode,
adjusting temperature, fan speed
and air delivery.
Cooler air may be supplied to
thesideofthevehiclefacing
the sun.
Recirculation mode will be
activated as necessary.
Do not cover the sensor.
