9-14 Driving and Operating
If you attempt to drive off without
releasing the parking brake, a
warning chime sounds and the Park
Brake animation appears on the
display.
The animation remains displayed
until one of the following occurs:

The parking brake is released.
.
The vehicle is stationary.
.
TRIP is pressed on the steering
wheel.
Ride Control Systems
Electronic Stability
Control (ESC)
The ESC:
.
Is an advanced feature t hat
works in conjunction wit h the
vehicle s ABS and includes the
Traction Control System (TCS).
.
Improves driving stability in any
driving situation.
.
Assists in maintaining vehicle
stability when the vehicles grip
level is exceeded, such as
during a sudden lane change or
in slippery or unexpected road
conditions.
.
Alters engine power and/or
braking on specific wheels,
improving the vehicles steering
control and power delivery on
wet or slippery roads,
particularly on snow and ice.

WARNING
Do not let this special safety
feature tempt you into taking risks
when driving. Traffic safety can
only be achieved by adopting a
responsible driving style. The
veh icles speed should always be
adjusted to suit road and traffic
conditions.
Activation
While the ESC is maintaining
vehicle stability, the
d warning light
flashes.
Switching ESC on and off
In certain circumstances it may be
helpful to disable the ESC, e.g. on
steep gravel inclines, or if the
vehicle is bogged. It may be
possible to get more traction from a
slightly spinning wheel.
Note: Switch the ESC off when
snow chains are fitted, to maintain
normal driving operation.
