TO USE DRYER:
When cement is dry, insert extension piece into center post while dryer is in the closed position,
making sure clotheslines are on proper side of center post. Open dryer slowly.
DO NOT FORCE DRYER OPEN: This unit was inspected at the factory and found to be in satisfac-
tory operating condition. If dryer does not open easily, inspect for tangled clothesline, or clothes-
line that is too tight.
TO TIGHTEN LINES: Stand facing the dryer rope bar and pull each line down and away from you,
then retie knot with excess material.
DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN LINES: This will put unnecessary strain on the dryer, will make unit
difficult to open, and may cause damage.
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TAKE UP ALL THE SLACK WITH ONE TIGHTENING: The clothesline will
tend to stretch the first few times the dryer is used. After lines are adjusted three or four times,
minimal stretching should occur.

CATCHER SPRING OPERATIONS:
The catcher spring locks the slide in place.
When opening the dryer, push the slide upward on the center pole until it stops between the
“button” and the base of the catcher spring
When closing or folding the dryer for non-use, depress the base only. Do Not Depress the “button”.
If the button is depressed, it can be pushed into the center pole and cause the catcher spring to
become dislodged and lost inside the center pole.
Note: Do not hang wet clothes only on one side of dryer, it could cause tipping. Distribute laundry
across all line of the dryer.

Overview

This document describes a clothes dryer, specifically an "ENERGY-SAVER" outdoor clothesline system, designed for drying laundry using natural air and sunlight. It includes instructions for assembly, usage, and maintenance in English, French, and Spanish.

Function Description

The primary function of this device is to provide a stable and efficient outdoor clothesline system for drying laundry. It utilizes a central pole with multiple lines to hang clothes, leveraging natural air and sunlight to save energy compared to electric dryers. The design incorporates a "catcher spring" mechanism for smooth opening and closing, and a ground sleeve for stable, vertical installation.

Important Technical Specifications

Ground Sleeve:

  • Diameter: 8" to 12" (20 to 30 cm)
  • Depth: 20" (51 cm)
  • Bottom Fill: Approximately 3" (7.5 cm) of small rocks
  • Concrete Fill: Approximately 6" (15 cm) of concrete, or until it reaches the bottom of the ground sleeve.
  • Installation: The ground sleeve is designed to be flush with the top of the ground sleeve or 1-1/2" (3.8 cm) below top if in a lawn, allowing for soil and planting on top.
  • Drainage: A drainage hole is created by inserting a tube or stick through the concrete to the crushed rock base during installation.

Catcher Spring Mechanism:

  • Components: Button, Base, and Catcher Spring (Ressort métallique/Receptor).
  • Operation: The catcher spring locks the slide in place.
    • Opening: Push the slide upward on the center pole until it stops between the "button" and the base.
    • Closing/Folding: Depress only the base.
    • Warning: Never depress the "button" when closing, as it can dislodge the catcher spring into the center pole.

Usage Features

Opening and Closing:

  • Opening: When the cement is dry, insert the extension piece into the center post while the dryer is in the closed position. Ensure clotheslines are on the proper side of the center post. Open the dryer slowly by pushing the slide upward until it stops between the button and the base.
  • Closing/Folding: For non-use, depress only the base. Do not depress the "button" to avoid dislodging the catcher spring.

Clothesline Management:

  • Tightening Lines: Stand facing the dryer rope bar, pull each line down and away, then retie the knot with excess material.
  • Load Distribution: Distribute laundry evenly across all lines of the dryer to prevent tipping. Do not hang wet clothes only on one side.

Safety and Best Practices:

  • Do Not Force Open: The unit is factory-inspected. If it doesn't open easily, check for tangled or overly tight clotheslines.
  • Do Not Over Tighten: Excessive tension can strain the dryer, make it difficult to open, and cause damage.
  • Initial Stretching: Clotheslines will stretch during the first few uses. Minimal stretching should occur after three or four adjustments.
  • Button Usage: Never depress the "button" component of the catcher spring during normal operation, especially when closing. Only the "base" should be depressed for closing.

Maintenance Features

Ground Sleeve Installation:

  • The plastic ground sleeve is designed to be rust and seize-resistant.
  • An attached cap protects against debris when not in use, ensuring the sleeve remains clear for the pole.
  • The drainage hole created during installation allows any water to drain, preventing accumulation and potential issues.

General Maintenance:

  • Regularly check clotheslines for proper tension and adjust as needed.
  • Inspect the catcher spring mechanism periodically to ensure smooth operation and prevent dislodgement.
  • Clean the dryer as needed to remove dirt or debris that could affect its functionality or appearance.
  • The design emphasizes durability with its factory inspection and robust installation method, aiming for long-term, trouble-free use.
