Defining Softkeys
as
Typing Aids
To
define
or
edit
a
softkey
as
a
typing
aid,
you
perform
the
following

basic
steps:
1)
Execute
the
following
statement:

type
the
word
EDIT
and
press
the
softkey
you
wish
to
define.
Doing
this
places
the
keyboard
in
edit
mode.
2)
Type
in
the
character
sequence
that
you
wish
to
store
in
the
softkey.
3)
Store
the
typing
aid
definition
in
the
softkey
by
pressing
the
softkey.
This
causes
the
system
to
exit
the
edit
mode.
If
you
wish
to
exit
the
edit
mode
without
storing
the
definition,
press
the
HALT
key;
in
this
case,
any
previous
typing
aid
definition
is
retained.
This
definition
exists
as
long
as
the
system
is
running.

permanently
store
a
softkey
definition,
see
the
section
headed
"Storing
Typing
Aid
Definitions".
Erasing Typing Aid Definitions
For
a
single
key:
To
erase
a
typing
aid
definition
for
a
single
key
,
type
in
SCRATCH
and
then
press
the
softkey
you
want
to
erase.
For
all
keys:
To
erase
all
typing
aid
definitions,
execute
the
following
command:
