Operation
RF Frequency Sweep (cont'd)
If the desired number of steps is less than the maximum calculated in 3a, use a sweep
time setting (in ms) greater than or equal to the result of the above calculation but less
than the result of the following calculation:
(Number of Steps +2) X Min. Dwell Time (in ms)
Example for Calculation #3 (Stepped Frequency Sweep)
In an 8642B, set a stepped frequency sweep from 100 to 500 MHz with 100 frequency
steps with Special Function
1
19 (Disable Settling) selected.
First select Special Function

SPCL (rsHim rn) rn TO m
Calculate the required sweep time setting for the 100 frequency steps using calculation
#3:
Maximum number of steps is equal to the minimum of 1023 or:
1100 000 000 Hz - 500 000 000 Hz
\
1 Hz
400 000 000
Since 1023 is less than 400 000 000, the maximum number of steps is 1023.
Minimum number of steps is equal to the minimum of:
INTEGER OF
275
80
- 1
or
1100 000 000 Hz - 500 000 000 Hz
|
1 Hz
400 000 000
Since 2 is less than 400 000 000, the minimum value of steps is 2.
Therefore, it should be possible to select 100 steps
SIP
e that value is between the
minimum value (2) and maximum value (1023).
