Step 5. If desired, lock the hard drive in place.
a. Press the hard drive locking lever down into the locked position.
b. Replace the cover and bezel. (See “Removing and Replacing System Covers and Bezels” on
page 25.)

Step 6. Verify the drive installation by using the system utilities. (Refer to the Utilities chapter of the
HP 9000 rp3410 and HP 9000 rp3440 Operations Guide for additional information.)
•Use the MP commands to verify operation
•Use the BCH commands to verify operation
• Use diagnostics provided by the offline diagnostic environment to exercise the module added
Step 7. If rack-mounted, slide the HP server back into the rack until it stops.
Step 8. Check the installation of the hard disk drive by powering on the server and checking the virtual
front panel and system event log for correct status for the hard disk drive.
