EnergyEfficientEthernet(EEE)Networking(IEEE802.3az‐2010)
Networking,particularlyformodernhighspeednetworks(100mbpsFastEthernetand1000mbps
GigabitEthernet)requiressignificantpower.EEEisanew(2010)standardforEthernetnetworkingthat
dynamicallymanagesthenetworkinghardware,shuttingitdownwhenidleandbringingitbackquickly
whenneeded.Thisdynamicapproachconsiderablyreducesenergyconsumption,
especiallywhen
operatingatFastEthernet(100Mbps)orhigher.
TheM500andM600printersareEEE‐enabledallowingthemtoachieveconsiderableenergysavings
whenconnectedtoanetworkinfrastructurethatissimilarlyEEE‐enabled.Ofcourse,theywillalso

NotethattheEEEenergyfeaturesareentirelyindependentofAuto‐On/Auto‐Off;EEEwillreduceenergy
consumptionregardlessoftheEnergySettings.
