Print quality
There are many different factors to consider when evaluating the overall quality of a printer’s output. Print
quality involves more than dots per inch (dpi) and a higher dpi does not necessarily mean better print quality.
HP LaserJet technology is integrated with each component of the printer such as toner consistency, print speed,

with the image-writing systems in the print cartridge, the innovative HP FastRes technology and HP Resolution
Enhancement technology (REt) deliver outstanding print quality. For crisp, clean text, HP FastRes 600 delivers
600 dpi output at engine speed. For your most important documents, use HP FastRes 1200 (1200 dpi effective
output) for brilliant black-and-white photos and sharp text.
Because HP FastRes technology can represent each dot space as one of 256 levels of gray, the printer can
deliver incredibly sharp text and graphics. The professional print quality obtained with HP FastRes rivals that of
competitive printers with higher dpi specifications—but without the performance penalties.
