Clear jams from the Tray 1 input area
A 13.XX.YY error message appears on the control-panel display to indicate that a jam has occurred in
the Tray 1 input area. To clear the jam, follow the instructions on the onscreen dialog box or follow the
steps below.
NOTE For a complete list of jam error messages, see Table 6-2 Control-panel messages
on page 397.
1. If the edge of the media is visible in the feed area, slowly pull it out of the device.
2. If the edge of the media is not visible, remove media from tray 1 and see

Clear jams from the Tray 2 and Tray 3 input area
A 13.XX.YY error message appears on the control-panel display to indicate that a jam has occurred in
Tray 2 or Tray 3 input area. To clear the jam, follow the instructions on the onscreen dialog box or follow
the steps below.
NOTE For a complete list of jam error messages, see Table 6-2 Control-panel messages
on page 397.
1. Open the right-side access door. If the jammed page is visible, gently pull it out of the device.
2. If you were not able to clear the jam by using the door, slide the tray out of the device, and remove
any damaged paper from the tray.
