Removal and replacement procedures 35
To remove the component:
1. Power down the server (on page 26).
2. Remove all power:
a. Disconnect each power cord from the power source.
b. Disconnect each power cord from the server.
3. Extend ("Extend the server from the rack" on page 27) or remove ("Remove the server from the rack" on
page 28) the server from the rack.
4. Remove the access panel ("Access panel" on page 32).
5. Remove the PCIe riser blank.
To replace the component, reverse the removal procedure.
Remove the primary PCIe riser cage
CAUTION: To prevent damage to the server or expansion boards, power down the server and
remove all AC power cords before removing or installing the PCIe riser cage.
1. Power down the server (on page 26).
2. Remove all power:
a. Disconnect each power cord from the power source.
b. Disconnect each power cord from the server.
3. Extend the server from the rack (on page 27).
4. Remove the access panel ("Access panel" on page 32).
5. Remove any installed full-length expansion boards ("Full length expansion board" on page 56).
